Three Tears Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Ruby in color with medium plus intensity.

Fruity nose with lots of fruits, cedar and chocolate notes.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.

Showing sweet cherries, currants, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, light earth, coffee, herbs, spices and black pepper.

Long finish with soft tannins and cherries.

This 7 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa is peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Delicious, complex and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and soft. Reminds me of a Left Bank Bordeaux.

This Single Vineyard is easy drinking and good by itself or with food. A great sipping wine.

I paired it with a Florentine steak.

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. A very small production of 1,500 bottles.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$125.

Corvara Valdadige Pinot Grigio 1607

An interesting Pinot Grigio from the southern section of Valdadige within the Veneto region (northern of Italy). Plentiful of white stony fruits embedded to the lime, quince and some herbs. It definitely has a bit and weight as a mouthfeel, short but sharp finish. It can be great as a sipper or a pairing grand stand with Mediterranean food and white sauce pastas. — 2 months ago

Barbaresco Cottà 2015

With enough age and air to hit on all cylinders. A bit of VA on day 2 and it elevates it even more. — 5 months ago

@Jay Kline haven’t tried many MGA barbarescos, but this sure was impressive. It certainly showed me there is a world beyond the consistently good Produttori.

@Jae Cho There sure is! Other MGA’s in Nieve to keep an eye out for are Currá (which is right next to Cottá) and Sottimano makes a great example; Albesani; Gallina; Bricco di Nieve; and then arguably the most famous of all, Serraboella. Obviously, experience with Produttori’s Riservas is like a “greatest hits” of MGA’s within Barbaresco del Barbaresco but it’s also worth seeking out examples from Pajè; Roccalini; and of course the incomparable Roncagliette. Aside from Vallegrande and Rombone, I have less experience in Trieso and really no experience in Barbaresco di Alba.
