Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2023 Chassange-Montrachet 1er Cru “Abbaye de Morgeot” pours a pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of freshly struck match, green apple, star fruit, Meyer lemon, white flowers, gentle warm spices and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and mineral laden. Brilliant stuff with a long life ahead. Just, wow. This wine is actually a 1er Cru Red Burgundy. Intense aromas of mushroom and clean freshly tilled earth. Dark cherry and raspberry fruit flavors with truffle notes and a nice “gamely” quality.
