This is one of the most curious wines I have tasted. It is made in the #Veneto area with the grape #tairosso which is also #tokairosso which is supposively #garnacha #grenache I say supposively because this wine on the nose and on the palate was very much like a Cabernet Sauvignon and full of pirazina aromas at the same time as ripe black fruit (black cherry, plum and cassis). #italy — 4 years ago

Black olive tread left burnt across blackberry tarmac. A spotting of shiitake and portobello with plum and strawberry reductions garnished with eucalyptus and parsley effusion. Black olive, charcoal, black cherry, black currant, graphite, teakwood, oolong, black pepper, dried violet and sage make this a winner. Initially pointed and closed. Deep black heart with star bright reflection. Nose of pipe tobacco and black plum are pierced by bitumen, pepper and licorice, black bread toast and grilled meat. On the palate, tart black cherries lead red cherries with dark juice bordering reduction, tobacco is prevalent but moist and sweet; graphite, smoke and charred oak just hinting. 2015 vintage in magnum making a more cohesive statement on day two. Baked fruits and bricking show the years, but unwavering quality and tannin keeping it chewy, luscious and solid rim to rim. Lovely Rosso Veneto to champion all comforts.

Big perfumed nose of lavender, jasmine, cherry blossom, black raisin, devil's food, blacktop, and pencil shaving with a sprinkling of sweet aquarium suggestions including algae and mixed hardwoods. Medium bodied red, pronounced savory character on nose, some wild cherry, underbrush. Fruitier on the palate though pleasingly racy, faint soft tannins. Really quite nice paired with Fettuccine Alfredo and thick Chicago-style sausage pizza though some vanilla notes in the pairing suggest new oak was utilized to round out this cuvée. chamomile, preserved lemon, tropical fruit, sea minerals, definite savory note, almost to the point of ‘mushroomy’. savory but fresh and tropical at the same time. enjoyable but prob wouldn’t buy again unless for a cheap picnic-y type outing. ($16!)
