Martin Woods

Koosah Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Zach D
9.3

Very nice wine. On the nose a mixture of mostly red fruits, sweet floral aroma; palate with crunchy red fruit, good acidity and length. On the palate there initially was a strong taste of what I best describe as potpourri; almost like a Christmas candle. Initially this was too much for me. I let the bottle sit for 48 hours and revisited, and it was much more integrated. I think a few years of aging might benefit. — 9 days ago

Havlin Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Every wine from Martin Woods is a treat. Grassy, lemony nose, almond candy in the background, mineral, white/yellow flowers, stone fruits.
Very interesting cooperage, both French and Oregonian oak. But, no buttah.
A crisp mouthful indeed, delicate.
As it warms it fills out. Never heavy.
Thanks@FassSelections.

Consistent with prior notes. Maybe adding a little gravitas/depth. Still super fresh. — 2 months ago

Hyland Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

This really does have Chambolle character. See Lyle’s notes. Light in color, bright, some tea notes but for the most part beautiful fruit, touch cherry, raspberry, citrus… and very soft tannins - days later under my Argon line- faint prune plum. Wouldn’t age this - it is perfect now! — 5 months ago

Nose: peach apple. Lovely as it opens. White flowers an hour in.

Palate: silky. Elegant. Very bright. Green apple. No oak. Very good deliciousness. Minerals as it opens.

Great finish. Long. Bright.

Burgundian in approach but alt burgundy in flavor profile. A wonderful addition to the cellar.

This seems more integrated than the Hyland Vineyard, same vintage. Anyone have insight? — 8 months ago

There’s a lovely peanut butter, VA, botrytis nose. Palate is intense. So tropical and juicy and clean. Acid is great but not like 18. — 3 years ago
