Fruit forward... slightly sweet... not dry... very drinkable. Can easily be drank without food — 7 years ago
All I can say is I opened the bottle and next thing I knew it was empty without help. Really enjoyed — 7 years ago
Langhe Nebbiolo such as this one by Vietti is basically a baby Barolo. A Barolo with more approachable tannins and acidity. However, it does not mean it a Langhe has no ageing potential. In 2016, this 2011 vintage still got its gripping tannins without losing all of its fruitiness. Violet on the nose, pomegranate on the palate. — 9 years ago
Fruit up front without being jammy...caramel flavor comes behind the fruit...finishes clean with some pepper, smooth on the throat, no chalk — 9 years ago
Great bang for the buck! Whiffs of Great Grandma's sofa and a smooth plumby finish. Very easy to drink without being too light. Just might become part of the weekly rotation! — 5 years ago
We really enjoyed this, rich without too much sweetness. Slight glycerol flavor preceded by big tannins and dark cherry and dried cranberry as well as a little dark fruit balanced with dryness on the mouth. Nicely balanced and some of our favorite flavors. Biggish, medium complexity, several layers with a damp earthiness below everything else, decent finish. Priced a little below its value (could easily be $24-$29), but not low enough to be an every-day bottle for us (around $19). I’ll put it this way: I’ll check the price on it every time I see it, hoping for a good value, and if so, will buy several. — 7 years ago
The 1978 La Mission Haut-Brion is a candidate for the greatest Bordeaux wines produced during the 1970s. Without question, it is the highlight of the vintage. I have tasted it several times over the years and each time, my appreciation is heightened further. Still youthful in appearance, the bouquet soars from the glass with almost high-toned blackberry, cigar humidor, warm gravel and that signature trait of black olive. You could nose this all day. The palate is medium-bodied yet there is much more density than you will find on other 1978s. Notes of black fruit, bay leaf, graphite and earthy tones, the latter emphasized with aeration. Decanting is strongly advised because it responds to a long opening, deepening all the time, developing a sustained cedar tincture that lingers in the mouth. It is a fabulous La Mission Haut-Brion that at 40-years continues to give so much pleasure. Tasted at a private dinner in London (ex-château bottle). (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2018) — 8 years ago
The CVNE (pronounced "coonay") Tempranillo is always dependable and presents a great opportunity to obtain older vintages--back to the 60's and 70's--at a price that doesn't totally kick your ass. This was a mature solid Rioja but without a great deal of verve, depth or punch. Good not great. — 9 years ago
So pretty and balanced, nose of earth and dried leaves, dry red fruit with cedar and tobacco, always pricey but great glass of Cabernet without question. — 9 years ago
One of my all-time favorite Chardonnays and have been on the mailing list since the early 1990s. Found this vintage at an Indiana shop. Always true to the fruit without the masking that malolactic and oak. Long finish slight green apple pear and lemon. Owing to the acidity I’ll leave the remaining couple bottles in the cellar and taste them in a year or more. — 5 years ago
Berry salad, orange peel, old baseball mitt. Decent complexity and density but without much structure at this point. Soft tannins. So young, not really sure what to make of this but it will definitely improve. — 6 years ago
A nice wine and solid value. Good earth and tobacco flavors with some moderate dark fruit and without obvious oak. Drink now. — 7 years ago
This wine goes as far as Valpolicella can go without being Amarone (that’s a flavor AND cost assessment). Beautifully priced and made, the seriousness and quality is there to pair with great hearty fare. Still plenty of finesse, with some delicacy on the nose, and a palate that never takes over. — 7 years ago
Have always loved Lytton Springs. A great value. Got to taste the 15 before release. Very lucky, in fact the most generously fruity I've ever tasted in Ridge. I'm sure some of this is due to being very young and without direction, but I expect others will feel the same. Still firm tannin and earthy backbone amidst lush and rich fruit. — 8 years ago
Drank at party without aeration / decanting. Needed to open more. Second glass much better. — 9 years ago
Tailgate wine. Love it. Fresh! — 9 years ago

Seemed like the right time to open this. The candy like flavor that I see people complain about had blown off this wine and it just had this incredible purple inky color and rim to it. Very enjoyable. Still had good fruit and sweetness without losing too much luster. Caymus used to age forever but I would drink these up by 10th bday. — 5 years ago
