Here is my Friday's Cabernet fix.

A nice color of dark ruby with a purplish rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, cherries, plums, vanilla, oak, spices, espresso, licorice, earth, light alcohol, cloves, herbs, dark chocolates, vinaigrette and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, vanilla, leather and tobacco.

Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins, tangy cranberries and spices.

This is a good Cabernet from Paso Robles. Well balanced with mild complexity. Spicy with a nice mouthfeel.

I had it almost a year ago and this time I really liked it. I guess it was just too young then.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (one hour).
A good sipping wine by the porch.

I paired it with a cheese plate, fruits and crackers.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

Sweet red fruits on the nose—strawberry, red raspberry, a bit of plum—with light cherry tobacco. Slightly tart cherry disappears into a sweeter, jammy raspberry finish. Medium-minus acidity. Medium tannin. Reminds me more of a pinot noir than a cab. This is nice.

The winery is over the top to visit. Unfortunately, the wine is just a little over average. I bought this at Costco for $20 after a $30 tasting at the hill top winery. C'mon, Daou, be reasonable.

Shickingly good. Smooth, finishes clean. It's not a proper Cab but it's great none the less.

Ruby going garnet. Burnt black cherry, mushroom, bell pepper and mint on the nose - hint of ethyl acetate. Silky mouthfeel, fine, well-integrated tannins, flavors of dark fruit, cedar and forest floor. Bracing white pepper after it opens up a bit. Exceptionally balanced. Perfect with grilled tri-tip and roasted potatoes. Left-banky, reminds me of a nice St. Julien - oceans are oceans! Bravo Paso Robles.

Wonderful Cab. A wonderful raisin fruit characteristic. You can tell this wine is from a warm place
