Grande Cuveé 166ÈME Édition Brut Champagne Blend

Here I am during my last evening in New Zealand drinking Champagne. We went to one of the old fashioned department stores to buy some NZ chocolate to bring back home and I happen to wander into the wine section where I find this 166 which I always enjoyed a lot. Thanks to the Kiwi dollar exchange rate this was just 170 USD and I could not resist :). This is such a beautiful champagne with toasted nut and brioche aromas - unmistakenly a Krug and a well-made classic that drinks exceptionally well right now. — 2 years ago

Domaine Sylvain Pataille

Clos du Roy Bourgogne Aligoté 2014

I’m such a fan of this guy. I think he’s making really beautiful wines that are the perfect balance of functional/traditional and meditative and thought provoking. The 2014s continue to slay. I think you could let them wander a year or two more, especially if you favor the opulence of a touch of oxidation, but I don’t think you’ll regret approaching these now, especially if you drink them slowly! — 5 years ago

What a satisfying drink that can turn off the critical compulsion and allow the palate to wander.. — 2 years ago

Cumberland Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2018

2018 vintage. Beef, barnyard lite, rhubarb and room-temp bread dipped in olive oil in the nose. Light-bodied. Rhubarb and mushroom in the flavor profile along with raspberry, strawberry and blackberry. Drinking really nicely currently but wondering where it will wander in the next year? Will have to get another bottle to find out. First bottle from this esteemed producer and it won’t be my last. — 3 years ago

Domaine Jamet

Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah 2017

Imagine standing beside a French barn with a stone base over rough timber. The door is open with horses inside. Olive trees and tilled soil to one side. Violets, prickly roses, and lilacs grow wild to the other side. After some air, the horses wander away. — 5 years ago

Château de la Crée

Les Petits Noizons Pommard Pinot Noir 2015

Tasting the 2018 vintage on a leisurely wander through Santenay. Fabulous wine from an unusual terroir. 2018 is going to be amazing — 2 years ago

Brune et Blonde de Guigal Côte-Rotie Syrah 2003

Over four years since last rating. Complexity has increased. Needs a two hour decant to let the wine express itself. Just phenomenal (and this bottle made it through a tropical cyclone and meandering wander in a container through a hot SE Asian summer!). — 3 years ago

Oregon Pinot Noir

Getting a strong tobacco note or something like that, which is unusual for a Pinot Noir, but it's tasty. — 4 years ago

Morambro Creek

Padthaway Shiraz 2016

Fruity, well balanced, hint of pepper on the rear of the palate, truly a Shiraz in nature, yet very drinkable. My first wander through this vineyard, may it not be my last. — 5 years ago
