Such a compelling bottle. Petite Sirah planted in the 1880s, in the hands of a master. The tannins have mostly melted, leaving a silken, eucalyptus-infused wine. — a year ago
Surprisingly good. Starts out with pleasant reduction, white flowers and hay, plus a bunch of tingling minerality. Fruit is mostly citrus wi the some just ripe stone fruit. The palate has a great acid and a better viscosity then expected, without lees and with a touch of oxidation. Great stuff, chardonnay-Riesling blend for structure-florals with something else for body, if I had to guess, but could be way off. — 4 years ago

Best New World red in a long time.
Rich but not overpowering. Interesting, balanced, and just plain delicious. Rebuy. — 3 years ago
Opened and decanted about two hours prior to service. No formal notes due to the setting but this was phenomenal; showing much younger than its age would suggest. The color was still ruddy and while it was vinous, it had lovely fruit and structure. Still identifiable as Merlot despite its age. Dreamy stuff by one of the true icons of California wine counter-culture. Drink now. — 3 months ago

Always a solid blend & one of the best values of all wines. — 3 years ago
I got the XVIII (18 not 17). Nice! Drank by the glass at a restaurant, I was told it is little known grapes from California, I was expecting a kind of sin massale but I was surprised! Lightly colored, with good floral perfume and bright red food, good acidity and some earthiness that takes it away from pinot land, without any funk — 4 years ago

This perennially fruity, earthy, cheap red is fruity, earthy and cheap. 🙂 All sorts of odds and ends go into this, and the nose gives up plummy, tangy red fruit and moist garden soil notes, along with a slight waft of sweet smoke. Deeply fruity and nicely balanced. Should have bought a case just to have this around for whatever pops up. Delicious. — 16 days ago
