OMG nose. Great terroir cannot be fucked with. It cannot. Black opulent cherries, hint of sweet wood, floral, dark, brooding. This is the EMO vineyard of Pommard. Insane and intense minerality. What mineral lift. Stunning nose. 9.7? 9.8? I don’t know. But it’s up there. Elite. Elite. Concentrated and intense but oh so young. Faboosh complexity and juiciness. Fruit is extraordinary but also needs air to show its true self. Man what a stoney Rugiens. Nose now showing kirsch. But a black kirsch. Energetic and so delineated and what insane fruit and finesse. Super complex and light as a feather but also deep, contemplative and dense. Wow. Stunning. A tick below 19. — 3 years ago
Wow. So floral. Milk chocolate covered cherries. Massive minerality. Deep and sinewy. Palate is so dense and so complex. Juicy and closed and has the most amazing fruit. Huge acid and a clipped finish. Out of balance but the guts are all there. This is a revisit. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Big tannins. Needs time. Graceful. After 7 hours this is insane. Nose is mossy and stoney. Deep. Wild. Feral. Palate is so supple, so elegant and has the most stunning late breaking tannins. Stoney as Pommard is but my goodness what stunning finesse. 9.6 to 9.8. Awesome concentration and depth. Really deep. My goodness that nose on day 2. Unreal depth. Moss. Mineral. Stones. Wild mint. Sweet black cherry. So awesome. Perfect balance and big Pommard tannins but so rustic. So elite. Weightless yet has so much weight. — 3 months ago
Juicy, brambly, dripping with bright florals and herbs, stoney too. Always delicious — 3 years ago
Love this wine and last 2-3 vintages are the best. Nose has delicate berries, hint of barnyard, herbals and wonderful minerality. Palate is a dream. So balanced, fresh and pure with red berry fruit, gorgeous minerals and incredible finesse. Lovey structure and stoney sweetness. Sappy and deep. Wonderful depth and length. Really the most elegant Marginale yet. Still needs time to open. As it opens it just levels up. More fruit and sap. 9.5 to 9.6. — 4 years ago
Excellent p/q. Baby brother of Domaine A - showing deep dark fruit and prominent but integrated tannins. Impressive and would age. — 6 months ago
The nose on this after opening was insane. Small berries, stoney minerality and a bit of spice...thought i was onto a total banger. This sadly faded away after 2-3 hours and became a bit la la and compoty. It seems unfair to judge such a young wine and I have 3 bottles left which I will drink after 5, 10 and 15 years (he says now then drinks them all in the coming weeks). There seems to be massive potential...the taste just needs to catch up to that nose!!!

Glory is this wine. Just one of the best wines in Burgundy now. After the 22 I had large expectations and this surpassed them. Nose is just bananas. Not literal bananas. The other type of bananas. The most complex cherry diaspora. Sour, mid season, late season and black. Spice galore and florals up the wazoo. Earth, limestone, dead leaves, living leaves and wet leaves. The nose is a 9.8 on the pop and pour. Just insane. Wild mint. What stands out the most is the layering and the clarity. Also the breadth. Wow that inner mouth perfume and endless, boundless energy that has the same fruit energy as La Tache. What I mean by that is this wine, yes can be about minerals as CDC is rocky, but man the fruit in 22 and now 23 is just in another register. Sappy, poised and clear as the sky is blue on a cloudless day. Yes the tannins are firm but you know with air they will melt into the fruit. The nobility of this site never fails to blow me away. Unreal concentration and density and just insane length. The tannins are velvety, sweet and intense but so so high class. Nose has so much florality, spice and red cherry fruit one cannot believe it. This is just insane. It’s almost a perfect wine. The balance is just beyond and the structure is incredible. This is a 50 year CDC. What a finish. Let’s see where this goes. After an hour the nose is remarkable. So deep, so nuanced, so spicy, so floral. Provocative. Palate is silky, sweet and so dense. Pumps the fruit out like an old set of Wilson Puppies. Unreal balance and purity. But this is built like a brick house. Let’s see where this goes. Will unfurl more but it’s a slow one! The concentration and tiny berry fruit intensity is off the charts. Now after 17 hours open its nose is full blown complex and flat out stunning. The cherry trifecta of sour/mid season and black. Mint and bramble plus wonderful and gorgeous sous bois. Stoney as well. All velvety bramble and such elegant and ripe tannin. A wave. Stunning inner mouth aromas, tiny berry fruit intensity and stunning purity. This seems like it’s more classic than the 22. Even on day 3 this is stunning. Lost nothing. — 13 days ago
