A lovely Champagne that never tries to get beyond itself. Persistent small bubbles that never seem to stop with a fine mousse. Fresh brioche, apricots, and tart apples comprise the nose. Consistency is key here. This little sparkler is so solid and sturdy. Beautifully balanced, delivers at a high level that’s easily comparable to other big Champagne houses. Predominantly Chardonnay, there is a freshness and effervescence to these bubbles. Very bright and lively on the tongue, this is clearly a step above similar bottlings. Toasted almonds and toasted bread lead on the palate with vanilla and green apples bring up the rear. Such a solid, terrific Champagne, this should be your house bubbles. — 5 years ago
(Catching up from 6/23 - JB’s Pig Roast) just a half-step behind the Allemand, but a great wine and generous pull (as always) by @Bill Bender. The Syrahs ruled the evening at JB’s House of Burgundy. — 7 years ago
The 1998 Haut Brion has long been a favourite vintage of mine and consumed with pleasure several times. Now at 20-years of age I feel it is one step ahead of the 1998 La Mission: there is great fruit intensity with almost precocious blackberry, raspberry coulis, pastilles, tobacco and hints of olive. It has exquisite delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with fuller in the mouth than the La Mission: deeper fruit (blackberry, mulberry and a touch of strawberry) intermingling with sage, cedar and a touch of hung game. It is not quite as precocious or as glossy on the finish as I remember previous bottles, but it is certainly turning into one of the finest wines of this vintage. Tasted at the château. We had 7 bottles of wine last Sunday night , Kenzo, Nickel Nickel,Papillon ,screaming eagle, frank's family , opus one overture &2013 pahlmeyer. We all like this pahlmeyer propriety red the best. Even a big step better than screaming eagle. — 8 years ago
Recently went to tasting featuring bunch of “TheCalling” Wines. Tasted this ‘14 Pinot 2yrs ago-developed nicely. Sports commentator Jim Nantz & wine guru Peter Deutsch met by chance at CT restaurant, each having dinner w/friends. Jim had a passion for wine and was exploring the next step when Peter stopped by the table, that meeting started a collaboration. Ruby with berry fruit aromas and complex spice. On the palate cherry with vanilla oak and pepper spice. Lingering finish ending with cacao & oak notes. — 6 years ago
Disgracefully good. A gift for the evening from @David L and his lovely wife Kristen - thank you so much my friends 😍. Never tasted this before, but am mesmerized now... With every sip, this evolves like a chameleon. Texture, weight and acidity are all in lock-step. Agree with RP on this. Perfection in a glass. — 7 years ago
Perfect for a late dinner as you step of an flight to come home. Crisp edge on the finish and the distinct Pinot Meunier flavors give it a nice kick/grip. — 7 years ago
A step up from the standard Aluado. More depth. Less soft. Really enjoyed — 5 years ago
2008 Henriot Millésimé. Sharp nose of lemon and lime, crushed riverbed rocks and slight floral notes. Sharp and crisp on the palate, almost wishing for the acidity to take a step back for the wine to unfold. Long finish. Let’s see how this develop in a few years. — 5 years ago
Great price point for its age good dram if you're look for a step up but don't want to break the bank — 6 years ago
This is a step down from Butteaux. Never heard of this vineyard. Lovely wine, holding strong after 7 years. Just less precise and more aged feeling. — 7 years ago
Celebrating the 4th a little early with a yearly family tradition...listening to the Fort Worth Symphony at the Botanical Gardens with the best firework show in Fort Worth!
Noticeable step up from the Chandon, in both nose and palate. Much more herbaceous on the nose with added limestone. Palate shows more of the classic chalk/yeast notes with minuscule bubbles. ALMOST creamy (but not quite). There is a baked key lime pie type finish. A nice US sparkler for the price. — 7 years ago
This wine has an apple and lime interplay, with matchstick, pencil, lemon oil and hazelnut scents forever. Gas lamp, briny yellow olive, lemon pith, lemon seed, white clay, clean smoke. Such an easy, deft and focused wine. Puts some pep in your step. #Bourgogne #bourgogneblanc #frenchwine #whiteburgundy #whitewine #burglove — 8 years ago

I loved this one, step mom knows how to pick them. Bold, smooth, bold refectory after notes. Outstanding! — 4 years ago
