The nose is loaded with fresh apricot, fresh lychee, ripe pineapple, spring flowers, and hints of citrus, grass, and petrol. On the palate there is orange oil, raw cashew, honeycomb, Meyer lemon, dried pineapple, nutmeg, and clove. Finishes with just a touch of heat.

Just beautiful. Certainly not Tuscan and shouldn't be. It's beautifully crafted. — 7 years ago

The MoM group had a rather large line-up of bottles this week, nearly a dozen strong, and not a dud in the lineup. That being said, this was one of three bottles that rose to the top. This arguably had the most interesting and enjoyable nose. A serious wine that would compliment a variety of meals. Impressive. — 5 years ago
Big but incredibly smooth — 7 years ago
Andy Erickson's history is hard to beat...Harlan, Staglin, Hartwell, Ovid, Dalla Valle and some place called Screaming Eagle. This one, while not the same notoriety as the others, still shows Mr Erickson's ability to blend an amazing wine. Not overly complicated, but great overall food wine. — 7 years ago
One of my favorites from Premiere Napa Valley 2020. #pnv20 #pnv2020 #napa Only 5 cases. Staglin clonal selection of Cabernet Sauvignon
A second generation Martha’s Clone, originally planted on the estate in the 1960s by André Tchelistcheff
Single barrel selected by winemaker Fredrik Johansson as a roto fermentation and aging in the same barrel
Your wine showcases opulence, elegance, nuance and complexity
This is the first time we are creating single barrel selection of the Staglin Clone Cabernet Sauvignon for Premiere Napa Valley. Harvested on Oct. 26, 2018 from our Rutherford Bench estate vines that were originally planted in the 1960s by the famed Andre Tchelistcheff and repropagated in 1990 under the talented hand of David Abreu. Winemaker Fredrik Johnasson selected these grapes for an in-barrel roto fermentation where the wine currently ages awaiting its future owner. One of the greatest vintages we have seen on our estate, this wine showcases the opulence, elegance, nuance and complexity our Cabernet Sauvignon has become known for.

Still holding up though a bit of the fruit has fallen over the years it is still a great example of Sangiovese in CA done right. Nice acid and enough tannin to hold up to a smoked leg of lamb for Easter. Smelled like a lovely aged Chianti. Brick/wet stone on the nose intermixed with a bit of iodine. Very pleased — 6 years ago
This 03 reminds me of a 82 magnum of Bella Oaks I had a few years ago. Both beautiful but the 82 was ridiculously off the charts. The nose on this 03 has big syrupy blue fruits...blueberries, boysenberries. Dark cherries, black raspberries, volcanic minerals, rich dark earth and liquid violets. The body is; lush, round, elegant with completely resolved tannins. It's smooth as silk. Blueberries, boysenberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, poached strawberries, stingy spice-box on the long finish, rich semi-sweet black earth, powdery dry crushed stones, soft chewy leather, vanilla, cinnamon, dark fresh florals, violets, the acidity is round, fresh and rain like on the palate. With a finish that is long, lush, elegant and lasts well over a minute. There is no bit or anything astringent in this 03. Photos of; a Heitz vineyard, estate building and tasting room grounds. Sad they no longer have this vineyard...now in the hands of Staglin and now costs for 3 times the price for a bottle. — 7 years ago
Very nice wine. Had with 2009 staglin. Preferred the Jonata. — 7 years ago
