Outstanding smoky nose, lychee, kumquat, strawberries during a rainfall (marcel deiss exclusive note!), marmalade, honeydew melon, kerosene, the panoply of fruit notes goes on... A deep amber color, suggesting a heavyweight sweet wine, but the riveting acid and uncanny finesse of this wine gives it a buoyancy on the palate that is remarkable. Rich and long, seamless tapestry of lychee and marmalade and melon fruit notes, I find I'm running out of the bottle so fast...purchased as the star from the winery 2 years ago, will last easily 15 more years. Beautiful! Finally an Alsace Riesling with the nervousness and limey notes one usually finds in a German Riesling. Dry minerality with good fruity sweetness that reminds me of ripe peaches, pineapple and a whiff of white pepper. Luckily, this producer was (last year) and will be (next winter holiday) our neighbor in Riquewihr. Also, their prices are very reasonable. — 9 years ago

A nice example. Gives a lot on the lychee-floral-aspirin spectrum without being too lush. About 10 grams of RS, low cheesy-smokey character. No-very low botrytis. It'll never be my grape, but this is absolutely text book. — 10 years ago

The 2015, the other half of the night's comparison. Less subtle, more floral. Jasmine, rose petal, honey. All powerful, but all a bit separate and distinct. I think this could lie down for a good while. Will be pleased to try another bottle in a few years. — 7 years ago
