Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2013 “Etichetta Bianca” pours a garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with fascinating notes of ripe and desiccated fruits: black cherry, pomegranate, red flowers, roasted beef, cedar chest, alpine herbs and rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory. Ferrando’s Carema (both white and black labels) are never short on personality and always such a joy to share with others. Drink now through 2043. — 2 months ago
Classic old-style lighter Valpo. Cherry, almond, bitter herbs, and gravel on the nose. Bright and almost ethereally textured on the flowing palate. Nice acids, and a slightly bitterish cleansing close. Imperfect? No, perfect. (The 9.3 doesn’t reflect that this is as complex or complete a wine as, say, a Burgundy or Napa Cab to which I might give the same rating, but that it is exactly what it is supposed to be and I’m enjoying it for that.) — a month ago
I loved it would buy more when I find it. I would get into all the nuances of wine flavors that all the wine aficionado would say but hey just a serious good wine I’m not all the verbose. — 2 months ago
One of those wines I’d been meaning to try for a while and just hadn’t gotten around it. One of these modern compelling white blends. Pretty interspersed with lots going on. Little hint of elder flower on the nose and umami on the palate. More interesting than savory. Cheers. — 3 months ago
