Lovely wine paired with rigatoni alla vodka and stuffed artichokes. Cherries and plum and not overly dry. Look forward to drinking this again. — 5 years ago
Delightful. Forgot how good barbaresco could be. Queen matched well with rigatoni @ Carbone — 6 years ago
This wine disappeared rather quickly tonight. 93 without batting an eye, maybe 94. This wine pours a translucent red / violet. Nose of mint and herbal cherry. Entry is MUCH more rounded than expected. Sweet cherry cola and acidity building in the mid palate. Finishes with some bing cherry sweetness, some herb, hint of tart, hint of oak tannin but not much. Good weight without being overpowering, and went with rigatoni pasta quite well. I think this one has another 5 years before it starts to head down the hill. Nice bottle. — 7 years ago
Pleasantly surprised at the 2006. Drinks well, notes of some citrus, lovely golden amber color. Paired wonderfully with Rigatoni with Leeks, Brussels Sprouts and Procuitto. — 8 years ago
This was a random bottle from the cellar on normal a Thursday night paired with a simple bowl of Mezzi Rigatoni and Marinara. I know very little about this Biodynamic estate but with Dressner as the importer, it has my attention. It appears to be declassified Chianti Rufina.
Popped and poured; consumed over several hours. In the glass, deep ruby with a translucent core and slightly browning edges, possibly indicating its near 11 years of age. Medium viscosity. On the nose, stewed black berries and black cherries, some VA, old leather bound books and dusty earth with medium+ intensity. On the palate, a rather powerful cherry red rope licorice character dominates accompanied by mushrooms, dried herbs and a bitterness that reminded me of walnuts. Medium tannins which seem completely integrated at this point. The acid seems to be on the higher end of the scale yet, the wine remains fairly balanced since it’s so well endowed with fruit. Medium+ finish.
I gotta say, I’m really digging this wine. It was fun on its own and worked really well with food. If this bottle is an indicator of the estate’s style and quality then I am definitely looking forward to experiencing more. Drinking very well now so no need to hold longer. Gorgeous, a young Sophia Loren, classic beauty with pure beam of cherry fruit mingled with dried herbs, olive, damp Earth and almost a subtle minty & licorice note. Just the right amount of juicy acidity & tannins - so cohesive & balance like a Ballerina. Need more of this type of Chianti Classico in my life. Drank 3/25/19. Paired with Rigatoni Bolognese.
Red cherry earth, and leather on the nose. Similar flavors on the palate, with some firm, but well integrated tannins. Sour cherry on the long finish.
I love Italian wines, but could not pick this from sangiovese if tasted blind. A nice chianti alternative.

2014. I had plans on cooking a little bit fancier meal for this Valentine’s Day, but we were iced in, so it ended up being rigatoni with homemade meatballs and a wine from one of my favorite Sicilian producers. Their vineyard designated wines are more complex, but this wine is always great to have in the cellar. ❤️ — 4 years ago
This may have been one of the best wines I’ve ever had. Perfect for a social distance night on the deck, 12 feet from our best friends. Served with a fabulous rigatoni with home made sauce. Perfect. — 5 years ago
Went well with food. Specifically rigatoni and meat sauce. — 6 years ago
Excellent. Went well with thepork rigatoni — 7 years ago
Drank 3/31/18. Ok pairing with Rigatoni Bolognese and a whipped mascarpone.
More of an international style of sangiovese, blended with some french grapes. Red cherries earth and tobacco on the nose. Flavors of sweet red cherries and plums, with some spice and earth notes. Medium tannins. Big difference when this wine is cooled down to around 65 degrees. Much more lift and freshness.
