Pop and pour at Luce in San Francisco. A majestic dark ruby red color. On the nose: bursting from the glass are beautiful notes of plum, stewed meat, cedar, some black raspberry, smoke, floral. Taste: smooth, rich, juicy wine with dark fruit, worn leather, meaty, bitter chocolate, and a spiced graphite long finish. YUM! A day before fire up for the Kevin Hart show in SF. La Guigasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache 2013

Pop and pour, notes from 1 hr open. Better than I remember my last btl being, but still not up to the level of that first '11. On the nose: lavender, incense, loads of garrigue, and soft red raspberry..very pure grenache. On the palate: serious acidity, hi-toned red raspberry, more herbal notes, with some salinity, almost olive brine/game, though I believe this is 100% grenache, and attenuated tannin on the finish. This has taken a very savory turn, and the tannin on the finish is slightly attenuated. Yum! — 4 years ago

What an amazing blend! This is a strong, funky wine that slaps you right in the face! Bright purple/magenta, sediment, lots of viscosity, powerful nose sees ripe cherries, oak, vanilla, cured meats, palette sees bright ripe cherries, lots of acid, medium+ tannins, high alcohol finish. This is an extreme, untamed, wild wine in every sense. Enjoyable, invigorating! — 8 years ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2017

Pop and pour at a restaurant over 3 hrs. So approachable and easy to drink considering it was a 2017 (drinking in 2022). Very rounded and a bit velvety, although had good minerality.

At first, very floral aromas more fruit forward, lots of cherry.

Over time, more classic rose and tar aromas and anise. Violets.
Taste became more earthy rather than fruity. Pretty good minerality too which was interesting.

Closed when opened ( pop and Pour) but reveals itself after with such grace and power, very left bank, great potential and great bottle.

This wine is outstanding! I tasted a bit pop and pour and knew it was special. It started out bright fruit and floral. I left it alone for two hours and then drank through the evening. Outstanding. It is delicate with red and blue fruit, yet dense and complex. Floral, bright fruit, and chocolate? on the nose. I took it outside on a 90 degree humid, MN afternoon and the nose got even more intense. I will do this on purpose again. — 7 years ago

Pop and pour. About 2 years since my last btl. Wow, stunning now.. Cola, soft nuits earth and game, dried raspberry and wild strawberry, perfume for days. Most vintages of this wine are great pop and pour candidates but this one really benefitted from some time in the decanter. Both the tannins and the acid are strong. Nice flavors of raspberry, cola, baking spices and vanilla with mineral notes on the finish. — 8 years ago
