1996 vintage. Last tasted 5.8.25 (9.5), 9.29.24 (9.5) and 8.2.24 (9.6). Decanted with some sed and tasted after an hour. Solid cork and fill. This was the worst showing of the last visits with less tannic structure and slightly more richness. Tasted a bit more like their "Au Paradis" offering. Not totally dissuaded from picking up another few bottles for enjoyment in the few 5 years or so tho. Three out of four bottles surveyed were fabulous and this wasn't a total swing and a miss. 07.18.25. — 2 months ago

Clear deep ruby in color. On the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of charred wood, black pepper, and black currant. On the palate, it's dry, with high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of eucalyptus, plum, leather, black cardamom, and tabacco smoke with a medium finish. This wine is complex, but a little lacking in fruit to balance the tannins. I'm hoping it opens up with time in the glass. Overall, I would rate this wine as good. It may be past its prime. After decanting and leaving it in the fridge for 3 days, it has opened up and is showing more fruit. The tannins have also calmed down. I'm bumping it up a few more points. — 5 days ago

Red and black fruits - a savoury plum character - also a note of creosote and tar. A lovely medium to full bodied palate - reeks of old vine Barossa Shiraz. Drinks well now but will easily last until 2030. Malcolm Stopp is the Brand Ambassador for Peter Lehmann and his comments are worth repeating, particularly the last sentence, “The bouquet beautifully incorporates dark briary fruits, chocolate and a touch of aniseed, whilst the finish is firm yet finely grained. A wine of great dignity that will continue to improve with still many years of careful cellaring. If you don’t like this wine there’s bugger all we can do……!!! — 10 days ago
