Enderle & Moll

Baden Spätburgunder Rosé 2021

2021. Courtesy of @Pinotman /// Andreas. Disturbed, lake bottom brown color. Slightly muddy and tart nose. Medium body. Not my cup of tea but there is an immaculate, front palate flavor moment of perfectly aged red Burg/Pinot Noir of, say, 15-18 years. Everything else is held in check during that time. That safe harbor in the storm is my take away. 4.1.26. — 2 months ago

I do not agree Burgundy priced itself essentially out of the market for normal and especially for young people. CA Pinot’s have done the same and are often beyond > 14%. That really just leaves Oregon and German or for that matter Swiss Pinots in a not totally over the top price range. Over there they are essentially 1/2 the price. Here they are heavily tariffed.

This particular wine was a Rose was 20$. I have not seen in the last 15 years an American Rose which can match Enderle & Moll. In fact i rarely see any Rose Pinot made - stateside - why? Because it simply does not make business sense if you can charge 50$ for the reds coming from the same grapes.

I did not mention rose’ exclusively. I did say Pinot’s. I also mentioned more than one area besides the states that are better suited for Pinot Noir. I believe I mentioned at least three areas w/ an etc. on that subject. As to your point on value, if you google Pinot Noir roses, you will find plenty of them under or close enough to $20 stateside. My only other point, was on sweetness. This one is sweeter than I prefer as would many of the others you may find at a $20 price point. I prefer one’s that are dry. Often, from Spain out of Tempranillo. But I am not here to debate or argue wine opinions. I was only leaving an agreeing comment on Scott’s post. Whether his reasons and mine are similar for not necessarily gravitating to this one, it is just a comment. I’d like to think that is still ok here. Cheers!

Baden Blauer Spatburgunder 2022

Another solid vintage of Ziereisen’s Entry Level Baden Spatburgunder. Dark garnet color with a ruby core. Fragrant aromas of red cherry/berry fruit, forest floor and a hint of smoke. Flavors of sour cherry, unripe strawberry and pomegranate fruit with additional hints of dried herbs, savory spices and minerals. Long lasting earthy finish and extremely smooth tannins. Medium bodied with a very smooth texture and a bit of tension. Rustic but quite elegant at the same time. Excellent quality for a reasonable price. — 2 months ago

Achat Riesling 2022

So strong and upfront is the nose that calling it a bouquet is an insult; as other notes here attest, hugely floral with all kinds of lime & cardamon accents. On palate quite broad yet detailed, a really interesting blend. — a year ago

Grauburgunder 2022

Super juicy. Pinot Grigio. Clean and crisp not our Kombucha type - skin contact! Tannic and quite tart but man is this great stuff. Small pears the ones which used to grow on old forgotten trees. Touch Strawberries. 🍉 Watermelon. It is incredible hard to spit this wine. A class on its own. — 2 years ago

Koepfle Pinot Noir 2012

Well i think the 2010 vintage was a bust but this 2012 is stellar. A cellar find - i cleaned up - did bring it to a party were - i am sorry to say / the “clowns” (except the host) did not get what was in front of them so 1/3 of the bottle was left behind. Bottle 343 out of 450. Super earthy and big. Just 13% more a steak pinot - than a salmon one. Tea leaves, dark fruit, iodine, lime. Will put this under Argon and drink the rest tomorrow! — 4 months ago

This is backwards out of the gates but it’s all there. Huge density, power and concentration while remaining fresh and incisive. Needs an hour and I will be back. Needed way more than an hour. Still on day 2 this is dense and sinewy. Really structured but so fresh. Acts like high end Crozes or baby Hermitage. On day 3 this has finally come around! Like the 18 and 15! Unreal aromas and so expansive. Sweet, dense and long 9.4 to 9.5. But it was like pushing a boulder up a cliff. — 5 months ago

Alte Reben Spätburgunder 2018

Was looking for a Pinot with a bit more structure and opened up this - man, this has evolved beautifully over the last 2y! Showing such finesse & elegance right now, the tannins so fine & smooth and the fruit shining. This is really a beauty to open up now.
Red berries with undergrowth, some tree bark, a hint of exotic spice & orange zest, maybe a whiff of dark cherry. So fresh, so juicy, so enticing!!
On the palate this sings! Impeccably balanced, with great depth & elegance.
Wow. This is quite profound and a stunner!
What a beauty!

Interesting where did you pick this up? It is one of the top 10 Pinot Producers in Germany. Have been there a couple of times and met the owner/winemaker. Fun fact; they have their own oak forest and dry the wood on site before it is made into barrels.

Always so good. Opulent and incisive. Deep nose. Lots of amplitude. Huge limestone. Herbal. So complex. German Chardonnay is so awesome. What a palate. Huge core of apple and pear fruit and stacked with minerals and a malo sweetness. So long and nimble. Gorgeous wine. Almost 9.5. — 4 years ago
