Odd Duck Jan 19, 2019 — 7 years ago
Found this in the odd lots bin at Kadota's Liquor near my old high school in Hilo, Hawaii a few days ago. Freaking delicious! Earthy, cherries, but very high toned for a SB Pinot of this era. Wish I still had some of this in my cellar. Justin was killing it from Day 1. — 7 years ago
I can’t imagine it being any better, other than letting it age for another few years. High alcohol will help it carry through. The very best of Staggs Leap in Cabernet Sauvignon. This was a very special Cab. With an explosion of balanced fruit and minerality. It changed in the glass after 20 odd minutes. Super smooth and still drinking young. Those who wait a bit longer will be rewarded. — 8 years ago
Great color. Nose presents wet orchard. Almost buttery first sip. Tart cherry cream draw. Full mouth coating. Incredible flavor that can stand up- but has a delicate sense. Odd combo. — 8 years ago
One of my favorite dinners was on the menu here at Chez Skip - cassoulet! And my knowledge of wine pairing is as sophisticated as a toddler eating spaghetti, I said to myself - hey I am eating French food and I like this French wine, so hey why not? And that was that. But as wine can be, it evoked its memory of when I had it first. I remember sitting out in the patio and being impressed with it. I thought to myself I could really enjoy French wines, but as history has shown, that was clearly a short lived notion.
Knowing it had been some time, I had an odd feeling, so I checked my Delectable history. Indeed, this was the very first wine I had rated!
So, to my friends, do you remember your first wine on here? Was it anything memorable? @philip Angino @Martin A. Snagged this one after the wine buyer at my local shop said it had an odd “barnyard funk.” And it does, in the best way. I was excited by the herbaceous nose, and very happy with the wet clay and wood taste. There’s a complexity with slight yeast notes, and a nice balance of medium tannins. I drank it on the third day after opening and loved the additional prune and dried fruit notes that I got. I imagine this would age well. — 7 years ago
Odd but lovely. I completely agree with the sangria comment.

As odd and funky as expected. — 8 years ago
Funky. Hey-ey with an odd nose but lasted forever — 8 years ago
Excellent depth and complexity. Odd dark ruby color. Stock photo — 8 years ago
Odd plastic aroma quickly blew off. ~30 mins of decanting and this was showing incredibly. Honey-like aroma and taste, a touch of salinity, just beautiful. The drinking window was pretty short as it started to lose its edge after about an hour and a half. — 9 years ago
Bright ruby red. Bramble berries on the nose with a little bit of black fruit and an odd not that is almost like Chilean guava. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium bodied. Dark berries and woody notes. Slightly plush mid palate. Long bodied and slightly thins out. Solid drinkable cabernet. Drink till 2019. — 9 years ago
that didn’t last long....empty glasses and full recycle bins.... — 7 years ago
This incredibly unique semi-carbonated Lambrusco is all about Red Delicious apples. Pretty crimson murky red with a tinge of copper on the brim. It’s completely dry with a bitter note reminiscent of apple skin. Tart cranberries and spiced cherry flavors formulate into a Dr. Pepper and nutmeg elixir. So unusual and so perfect for this time of year.
And more surprises - an odd cone shaped knobless Champagne cork that requires a corkscrew. It comes wrapped in a personal paper note from the winemaker about wine quality. — 7 years ago

Plenty of life left in this baby. May be at an odd point in its life but it's very complex and bright. Complex flavors and aromas ranging from wild berries to citrus peel, forest floor and spice. — 9 years ago
I love Seavey wines and think their Merlot is one of the best in Napa. Deep red with a slightly brown/orange rim. The nose is beautiful and I'm hit right away with cherry compote and brioche (which to me is odd for a red). The entry is silky smooth and fruit-driven with flavors of blueberries and cherries. Soft tannins and medium acidity balance out the wine for a long finish. — 9 years ago

It’s actually kinda odd to taste Dunn young. Pleasure though — 7 years ago
