The Basic QbA Riesling from a good grower should always be a very good wine that also ages well. Case in point here. This 13-year old has another decade of aging potential. I believe the vineyard village here is Wehlen. The fruit is fresh and would be convincing as a feinherb, and the balanced structure is appropriately firm. — 4 years ago

So much for “classic” vintages. This silky-textured, Rubenesque beauty from a hot vintage offers tremendous enjoyment at 17+ years. Versatile with main course and dessert. — 3 years ago

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese Riesling 2008

I’m getting a real taste for these delicious aged rieslings. This is the second bottle of this vintage I’ve had, and man - it was rocking. It’s in such a perfect place right now. Ripe acidity balanced with the sweetness of honey, caramel apple, brûlée’d peach, kerosene and lilac flower. I’m making a mental note to buy more for the cellar. Despite the wait, these are too good to rob your future self of their pleasures. Yum. — 4 years ago
