Tannin has grip to it. A mouthful takes me into a cloud forest, a knot of jungle and brush. Intricate and sinewy, like the musculature of a dancer. — 7 years ago
CVed 1/16/18. A mini vertical of '02-'03-'05 after yesterday's '05. Lightest ruby color of three. Earthy autumn leaves and red brutes on nose. Silky well balanced palate and neon body with good lively texture and complex delicious finish. Better drinking more than the '05. Supposed more feminine and better balance. Wow, opened 2/1/23 and it’s fine! Great with Evan’s Salted Crispy Pork. — 8 years ago
Last of a case. Great with jungle curry. — 9 years ago
Drinking with grace. So good. Sweet and bitter first then a sharpness indescribable. Then the perfect finish. Found at jungle jims — 9 years ago
Dry rose, almost neon pink colour with pretty clementine (?) nose. Nice thick mouthfeel with juicy taste of raspberry and oranges that has just the right amount of acidity. Clearly benefitted from a good vintage but comes recommended and is good value. — 10 years ago

BC wine at its best. Go drink this. — 7 years ago
I know now this needs more time to integrate, but it’s down-soft in the background, so difficult to see a balanced future. Warm plum and black berry-currant, cranberry stuffing, rich chocolate, sherry trifle, all loosely sprinkled with fine graphite. Steamy jungle flora notes merge with hemp stem and black cherry skins. Hard chocolate entry bringing dried blackberry and even drier black cherry stripped naked in a sauna of chamomile and phantom eucalyptus outlines describing a swarthy shadow through steam. A recent denizen of the cedar benches, puffing sweet tobaccos? There is subtle power at play despite the fruit-forward leanings. I was initially on the fence with this. This one is enigmatic with a nod to Napa in the 1970s. #Napa #Walton #cab #cabernet #cabsauv4life #cabsav #california #egelhoff #EgelhoffWalton #Bobegelhoff #egelhoffwines #StHelena #sthelenacab — 7 years ago
Day 3: Big, black chocolate nose, with baked blackberry, black olives, and charred beef ribs charging from the glass. The floodgates have finally opened, and it was worth the wait! There is fresh cocoa bean pods and a jungle of flora; rosemary and iris extracts and an oatmeal raisin aspect to the perfuming.
Just the right texture for the pungent hothouse welcome: grippy and coarse, with a bitter chocolate and raspberry interplay, and a single unforgettable graphite and smoky slate backbone; unwavering in the churn of black currant, pepper, eucalyptus, leather and tobacco. Léoville Poyferré's high octane new world Malbec that puts a LOT of stick about! It also has an elegance, as all good dominatrixes should! This is so neon-bright in the glass that I could easily have taken it for Beaujolais. The magenta color is practically glowing. But once you take a whiff, we're clearly in Chinon, as you get a big smack of tobacco and funky earth scents. On the palate it combines both personalities. It's oozing with bright, primary fruit but not in that generic natural wine "fresh and juicy" fashion - while it's definitely vibrant (and needs a heavy shake to ditch its CO2), it has a rich, saucy density and the fresh fruit isn't here at the expense of the classic Chinon funk. — 9 years ago
Quite a treat sipping on something w/bottle age: bright neon golden colors, some peach & tangerine, fragrant beautiful with zesty acidity juxtaposed w/some fatness coming from age. Hint of RS on finish not quite as precise (balance) as German Riesling, but flat out Awesome nevertheless — 7 years ago
Bright, almost neon color is striking. Scent is all pleasantly earthy and meaty. Taste is more meat and leather nicely rounded with red fruit and a slight savory brine. Has low to end acidity with a soft tannic pull. Delicious. Reminds of a Corsican wine I had recently. Will buy again, no question. — 7 years ago
Bright yellow, almost neon. Jolly rancher and a lil sulphuric. Rich honey on the palate. P&M from France. — 8 years ago
I had this in Chicago 2 years ago and thought it was good, but didn't stand out of all the hoppy beers I was having. Now drinking it on its own, it is one of the best and most unique beers I've ever had. So awesome they can be found in California now.it is literally the perfect balance of a pale ale, wheat beer, and tea. Perfect blend. — 9 years ago
