In 1964, while looking for additional land to expand his Tenuta dell’Ornellaia vineyard, Marchese Lodovico Antinori discovered & acquired property of Tenuta di Biserno near Bibbona. A blend of Merlot, Cab Sauv, Petit Verdot and Cab Franc & aged for 12 months in French oak, concentrated aromas of ripe currants and sweet spice. On the palate currant and black fruit flavors, elegant fine tannins with cacao and tobacco tones. Lingering ending with an earthy character. Very nice. Tasting Sample. — 7 years ago
Very nice intense with a good finish. Paired well with the lamb. 4/18 — 7 years ago
Tenuta dell’ Ornellia’s entry level offering. Blend of Merlot (50%), Sangiovese (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). Dark ruby/purple color. Ripe red fruit aromas with hints of tobacco, purple flowers, spices, crushed stones and garrigue. Ripe strawberry, cherry and red currant on the creamy pallet with notes of spices, vanilla, orange zest and cedar. Juicy and luscious. Just a baby, (nicely balanced) but there is a lot to like here. Outstanding QPR! Punches way above its price weight. Happy Birthday Kieth S! — 3 years ago
Tenuta Tignanello ‘Marchese Antinori’ Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2017: Medium-body. Great balance. Nice acidity. Beautiful deep ruby red color. Full aromas of cherry, vanilla & spice and palate flavors of red fruits, plum, blackberry, dried herbs, chocolate, vanilla & soft oak. Fine integrated tannins help to produce a long silky finish. For me, this was a gorgeous Chianti Classico wine and definitely one that is ready to drink & enjoy right now. I’d call it a young Tignanello or Tignanello’s little brother. Go give it a try! Light, fruity flavor. Perfect for what I was looking for! — 7 years ago
Pronounced “Es-peck-tuckle dell Mont-sunt.” Located in so-called armpit of Spain’s prestigious wine country principally because of its rustic quality. Deep Ruby with intense fruit aromas and sweet floral spice, aged 15 mos in French oak, from a warm dry vintage. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and raspberry with currants, sweet cacao, floral & pepper spice. Fine big tannins, well balanced with long finish finesse, ending with herb and spice, adding slight alcohol warmth. — 3 years ago

An interesting and fruity #Syrah. Enjoyed this bottle on an unexpectedly stormy day on the Cape, so it was fitting given the weather. Here, the bottle is pictured posing with a garish sculpture found in our Airbnb. Needless to say, we preferred the bottle to the sculpture. 🗿 — 7 years ago
