Ripe, dark fruit on the nose. Tart cherry a d ripe fruits. Nicely balanced. — 6 years ago
Very nice Beaujolais. Was quite curious how this would present given the wide variety of opinions on this wine. Aromatically quite beautiful - delicate flowers, lighter red fruit. Palate follows through nicely. Restrained at this point, and the 14% doesn’t present in any negative way. Long finish with great earthy tannins and good acid. Perfect cold night pairing with a rotisserie chicken. — 4 months ago
The side label says this is from the Grands Cras lieu dit. This definitely smells and tastes like a low or no sulfite “natural” wine. Not so much because of any barnyard notes, but because of how juicy and bright the “just crushed” Gamay juiciness jets out of the glass. There’s some nice granitic minerality too. The flavors seem to change with each sip. Bright, deep, lively, and playful. Really fun wine. BTW, there was a surprising amount of very floaty, almost Pinot Noir-like sediment in the bottle. I double-decanted to get rid of it and poured a couple of tablespoons of those dregs in the chicken braise I’m making. — 10 months ago
Huge amount of fruit. This seemed big and burly. Not what I was expecting from core du Py. Just ok — 5 months ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2023 (S) pours a deep ruby/purple with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe strawberry, Bing cherry, red and purple flowers, red rope licorice, rocky earth and cool spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This vintage of Lapierre shows the warmth of the vintage and oozes generosity. In some ways, this reminds me of the 2015 vintage. Drink now through 2033+. — 3 months ago
