Foillard, Lapierre, Descombes, Domaine de la Grand Cour are some of my favorites! Never had Metras or Julie Balagny that I hear are really good too.

@David T Thanks for that! Will do.

Arianna Occhipinti

SP68 Bianco Terre Siciliane Albanello Muscat of Alexandria 2017

In my opinion occhipinti’s best and one of the best skin contact wines I’ve had. Beautifully floral, think earl grey... always better on the second glass and not over-chilled. Lovely orange zest and apricot finish. Maybe not for the VA and Brett loving goofball natural wine fanatics but definitely something interesting for someone with a more classic palette who craves complexity and subtlety. — 6 years ago

Suavia

Monte Carbonare Garganega 2016

Loving the purity and focus of this wine. There is a very crystalline minerality throughout. Not a tremendous amount of fruit, but subtle pear, white peach and bitter apple skin notes show up mid palate. This one is all volcanic terroir, acid and earth but it brings it all with confidence and precision. — 7 years ago

Go JetBlue! Way to stock the good stuff on your Mint service. Enjoying this from a plastic cup, and wishing I had some cheese and stone fruit to go with it. — 8 years ago

Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2010

Amazing. Drinks well as I type this. Very complex wine. Is this really a Pinot? Wild berries hits you on the nose, followed up with a leathery full throttle profile. Hints of raisin ending with a smooth finish. Loving it... — 10 years ago

Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Color - burnt red with some bricking and a bit cloudy—a savory look indeed! Nose - dark deep cherry, smoked meat, pencil lead, gravel and notes of mint, cream cassis vanilla and with a subtle funky spice at the tail end giving much character to the wine. Taste definitely does not disappoint—an immediate creamy feel and dark cherry, savory, spice initially hits the pallet followed by cocoa, graphite and a smoke like aged vanilla long finish. Dusty tannins linger long after each taste. Loving it!! — 5 years ago

Domaine Roulot

Monthelie Pinot Noir 2015

I’m loving this. Yeah QPR isn’t great but I didn’t buy it so that’s irrelevant. This is a pretty bottle of wine. Will defer to @Noah Raizman & @Joe Tucker if this counts as fake or real burgundy. — 7 years ago

Real in that it’s next to impossible to find unless you know the right “guy”. Fake in that it’s actually just Rombauer chard poured into an old bottle of Roulot. I know your damn tricks, Gilbane

Paradigm

Oakville Merlot 2013

Deep ruby red with a strong, fruity nose. Aromas of black cherries, strawberries, and vanilla initially. There’s some oak and tobacco on the nose, as well, that gives it a slightly rustic character. This is not necessarily the kind of Merlot that “drinks like a Cab” like we’ve all gotten used to. It’s decidedly smooth and medium bodied with very fine tannins. On the palate, there’s a ton of stewed plums, bright strawberries, blackberries, and smooth caramel. More toasted oak, cocoa powder, and vanilla finishes things off. Exquisitely crafted, silky, and rather interesting. I’m loving Merlot again. — 8 years ago

My husband is a scotch drinker, but, this was given to him as a Christmas present last year.
He landed up opening it up last week to try, and really liked it. He’s had a glass every night so far.
Impressed.

Vintage Port Blend 2000

Splurged on this one. Loving port wine now and what goes into it. This is a vintage which are rare due to many conditions. This is a Ruby port, more fruit forward but dark and juicy. Worth the euros. — 7 years ago

Estate Vineyards Les Pavots Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2003

In December I took my Chicago Bear/San Diego-LA Charger loving Dad for a trip to to Chicago that culminated in a trip to Green Bay to catch a Packer game. We stopped off in Elkhart Lake with my friend from CA who grew up in the area and his sister runs the Lake Street Cafe in town. This was WOTN of the 4 wines that I brought to this leg of the trip. So much depth here, mouth coating tannins and gobs of well integrated fruit. — 7 years ago
