93 syrah/ 7 viognier
The third syrah in my lineup was a wine I've enjoyed a few times over the last five years. Bangin' vintage and in a style I enjoy (syrah and vio). Purple-black in the glass, it offers up killer aromatics of rich, dark fruit, some baking spice, and smoked meat. Even with nearly four hours, this was a monster in structure with tannin that paired beautifully with an herb crusted lamb rack. Powerful on the palate with smoked berries, bacon, espresso, vanilla and a savory finish. Still on the upswing with lots of wonderful Cote-Rotie fireworks in store. Wish I had another! — 4 months ago

Château La Conseillante
Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1990
1990 vintage. Low neck fill. Opened with a Durand but not decanted. Cork 45% saturated but in good shape. Both darker color and slightly less sediment than expected. Secondary and tertiary nose but (still!!??) some primary and ripe cherry and plum flavors in the front and mid-palates. Consistent palate push without any potholes, gaps or regrets. Phenomenal tobacco and fudge notes in the caboose. Based on this baddy, can hold steady for another 5-6 years before a scoring recalibration. Not the biggest Pomerol fan but this didn’t suck. 3.20.26 — 6 months ago

This is far too young but when I have a chance to look in on Cheval Blanc I do.
Nose shows; ripe blackberries, strawberries, dark cherries, plum, moist clays, coffee, moist herbs, roasted chestnuts, amazing florals that are red flowers, red roses, lilacs & violets.
The palate shows some nice evolution but still too young to drink. Ripe and slightly candied; blackberries, strawberries, dark cherries, raspberries & plum. Moist clays, coffee, moist herbs, roasted chestnuts, espresso, mid berry cola, caramel, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, crazy, round, bold spice, moist tobacco, used leather, graphite, dark, rich earth, dry stone, limestone, soft oak powder notes, amazing florals that are red flowers, red roses, lilacs & violets, round, rainfall acidity, balance, mid structure/tension, grand length and a two-minute long polished finish.
