I can find nothing wrong with this exquisite bottle. This is a wine you can stick your nose in the glass and get lost in depths, amid layers of swirling fruit and spice. It is both mellow and sultry, showing leather, pepper, peony and violet, and then bright and lively on the palate, showing cherry and blackberry fruits that are a bit ethereal. Unadulterated Margaux joy.

A few wines from last week’s 4th Friday event!

In a wonderful spot and classically classic. Could smell the herbs de Provence and old leather from the moment it was poured in the glass. More on the touch of blue and black fruit spectrum, with vanilla pipe tobacco, sweet tar, clove and even some smoked meat toward the finish. No hurry here, but it sure is enjoyable now.

Barnyard on nose with deep and long cherry finish. In a great place and will hold.

Very funky. Like cow dung. Red cherry, sweet spices, pretty closed nose. Very silky on the palate, need hours of decanting. 2000 vintage

Delicious from the moment the cork was popped and only getting better with air. Lovely dark red currant and plum. Ripe, well textured mouthfeel. Lengthy finish.

Dark fruits, chocolate, expresso roast, dark earth. The well made 00's are going to need 20-30 years to really hit their stride.

The 2000 Chateau Brane Cantenac was absolutely singing. It's in a great place right now and imagine will be for a while. It had its telltale aromatics of graphite, tobacco, black currant and a stunning floral character. It was followed by just pure, rich, concentrated and mouth filling flavors. Seamless is a good word here. This is truly a remarkable Margaux showing off its elegant, silky power! Pop one if you have some. I can't believe I drank the whole thing.
