Rich, powerful and concentrated, notes of butterscotch, Meyer lemon, hint of marzipan cookie, lingering finish — 8 years ago
Spiced apple, lemon curd, white peach with marzipan, nougat, marshmallow oatmeal, clove and just a suggestion of sulphides. It’s generous in its delivery, but even with full malo there’s some driving acid that drives the finish and shapes things up beautifully. — 8 years ago
Black fruits, plum, jammy, leather , a bit of eucalyptus aroma. Dry, med+ acid, med + finish — 9 years ago
Distinct pencil/graphite on the nose along with dark red fruit, and maybe lavender or geraniums. Restrained cherry, blackberries, and a hint of raspberry on the palate. Good tannins and acidity. Could drink now or put away for another year or so. Purchased K&L for around $20 — 9 years ago
A gorgeous red after a long day of travel! — 10 years ago
The LCBO is advertising this wine with a 94 score and selling it for under $20, which sounds and is too good to be true. Over-promising aside, though, it was a lovely wine. Well-balanced, with a good amount of oak and tropical fruit on the nose. A good companion for Thursday night BBQ sausages and corn. #laterwine — 10 years ago
Good, murky raspberry, bramble fruit mix up on the nose with a diligent touch of saddle leather and elegant farm yard (reminds me of muddy chocolate). In the mouth there are plenty of juicy, ripe red berry fruits plenty of fresh acidity and a spiced red fruit finish — 11 years ago
Leeuwin Estate Shiraz getting better & better each vintage! Great grapes in 2012 that went into both Art Series. & Siblings Shiraz- smooth, easy drinking, medium bodied Shiraz wonderful smells of ripe red plums Excellent value-for-money Shiraz - share a bottle today with friends , family, siblings!! — 11 years ago
Clove, cracked pepper, black currant, medium body, medium acid, ultra dry. Dark finish. Good balance — 12 years ago
More berry/cassis than leafy herbal Margaret River style - touches of capsicum though. Very enjoyable but I don’t know whether I would pick this as Margaret River in a blind tasting. Medium bodied but M+ intensity. Nearby neighbors of some of the big name producers without the price tag. Tasted another bottle 43 weeks later on 7th February 2020 with similar notes but showing more Margaret River herbaceousness. Excellent QPR for a Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon. 92 points. Tasted another bottle on 19th March 2022 with consistent notes. Pretty much a typical Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon. 3 bottles left. Tasted another on 3rd February 2023 with consistent notes. Had this with pasta. I didn’t think that was a good food/wine match but it worked perfectly. Tasted my 2nd last bottle on 28th June 2023. Certainly not a typical herbaceous Margaret River Cabernet. More cassis and blackberry like a South Australian Cabernet. — 7 years ago
Starting to see more beautiful wines from the Margaret River and this is a stellar example of Australian Chardonnay. (This one is an appellation blend of 65% Margaret River and 35% Pemberton) but they are based out of the Margaret River.
13% Alcohol - medium malo, bright acidity
👃flint/crushed rocks, honeydew, green apple skin, vanilla creme
👅pineapple, golden apple, lemon zest and oil, white pepper, mineral, mousse
Excellent balance between the fruit and the acidity, could have some age potential, with minimal development due to it being a screw cap, but it could still use a few years to become a tad softer.
Australia is probably my favorite wine making region this year for sure. A must try. — 8 years ago
A modern style of Margaret River Chardonnay ( think Deep Woods Estate Reserve- not Leeuwin Estate Art Series which is more old school). Lees stirring Burnt match, grilled nuts and lime. Funky. The type of Chardonnay that wins Trophies at major wine shows in Australia. Tasted again 70 weeks later on 5th May 2019 with consistent notes. The above still applies. Excellent QPR at $30. — 9 years ago
Big brooding nose of dark fruit, pencil shavings, and red meat. Massive, and tannic but fine tannins and with quality dark fruit to match. 8yo but still 8-10yrs too young. Super dry finish. Worth the wait for the px relative to good Bordeaux? 2008 vintage — 10 years ago
Wow; how maturing #margaretriver #chardonnay does vary; see recent #cullen #2009 which was brassy, this gleaming green and plenty of it; #cullen restrained, this #capementelle is butch; nose power of smoke or burnt things, bottle age nose not simple, evidence of lees/ mlf from the smoke; palate chunky, lime juice, burnt toast you taste in 30 yo Eden Valley riesling; juicy smoke; rich, not terribly drying, acid taut, 13%, AUD 35, full bodied, no apparent reason for it to fade for a while; contained power. #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtours — 10 years ago
1997 vintage - on the downward slide but at 18 years of age, showing its classy pedigree - interesting to taste against the 04 tasted at the masked Zin tasting 1/12 ago - fruit has faded but structure & length maintained — 11 years ago
Beautiful and elegant, very savory, loads of eucalyptus. — 11 years ago
Nice levels of restraint; black berry, medium bodied, balanced acid. Fresh finish. This isn't going to blow you away with complexity but is eminently drinkable. — 12 years ago
2005 vintage, rescued from the cellar today. What a testament to the quality of Margaret River Cabernet. Divine, the fruit shines through the palate and the briny tannin structure is magnificent. Enjoyed every sip! — 7 years ago
Continuing with the Langtons Classification tasting of the Best Australian Wines in the Outstanding Category. This Woodlands Cuvée always named after a Family member is their best expression of Cabernet. I have been buying 6 bottles every year since 2007. In the Wilyabrup dress circle over the road from Moss Wood and close to Cullen and Vasse Felix. Always one of the best in Margaret River. Just noticed @Delect Able that the 2010 is Heather Jean not ShelleyAnne. — 8 years ago
QF81 - Beautiful soft with loads of depth. — 8 years ago
This one's in a class of it's own. Lovers of Cab Sauv praise it. Even folks like me who aren't huge fans of Cab Sauv find it pleasing. — 9 years ago
The complexity of this iconic winery’s entry-level Chardonnay belies its price, with intense Meyer lemon, pear and melon character and hints of toasty lees and fennel. Juicy, seamless and pure, it also has the balance to age. (JR)

Nicely balanced Shiraz with notes of blackberry, vanilla, oak and a herbal. — 11 years ago
Good complex nose of apricot, peach, nutt and a touch of butter. Beautiful complexity, texture and lees influence. Delish ! — 11 years ago
This is the 2007 vintage. One of the better 2nd tier Marg River Cabernets for around less than half price of the big guns at approx $40. Not quite as good as the standard Vasse Felix or the Woodlands Margaret for the same price. Good fruit and herbal notes from a good vintage. 17.5+ — 12 years ago
Beautiful wine! District taste of diary. Smooth and long finish — 12 years ago
Simon Gilligan
Savoury is the name of the game. Medium to full bodied, long finish, gravelly drying tannin, blackcurrent, mint, eucalypt. Great nose, 2 hr decant and felt it was finally opening up. Very left bank Bordeaux like, 85% cabernet sauvignon. 10% petit verdot. 2% merlot. 1% cabernet franc. — 7 years ago
