Mint and thyme on the nose. The front is the faintest faintest hint of strawberry fruit. The tannins don’t kick in until the mid palate so this starts as a very delicate wine. But then the tannins kick in. Initially they’re tight and overpowering—but after an hour the decanter the become a bit more gentle and civilized. On the back palate I get a citrusy grapefruit tartness. This wine has a long delicate finish. Silky. Very pleasant! — 7 months ago

Refreshing citrus. Seemed to go with everything and also nothing. — a month ago
Really nice Greek red, had at Kurt and Sarah’s for Sarah’s bday. Drank like a borollo. — a month ago
Got a Greek white for my Greek dinner and I think the wine could have been the focal point instead of the pairing. Great wine, not Earth-shattering. Bright pear, light stonefruit, balanced citrus aroma and flavor paired with everything I threw at it including spanakopita, tzatziki, and Greek salad. Was kind of bummed when the butler was empty. Highly recommend! — 4 months ago

The 2018 is 70% Syrah and 30% Merlot. There is no Xinomavro in this blend. (According to the label and the website.) Both grapes are coming from the Naoussa vineyards. The Amyndeon Xinomavro is now going into other Kir Yianni wines. It seems the blend went to only Syrah and Merlot sometime between 2014 and 2016. This 2018 is silky smooth with faint integrated tannins. It’s a bit closed right now though. Very faint detectable fruit, maybe plum or blueberry? Nose of cedar, smoke, and something I couldn’t pin down. At first I thought a hint of patchoulli? But I just tore apart the spice rack in the kitchen and it is definite bay leaf. Both aroma and flavour. And an earthy herbal bay leaf, pepper and black olive tail. It’s quite interesting. — 9 days ago
