Austin BBQ is amazing!!!....Enjoying this Oakville Ranch CS with brisket and pulled pork. Wish I had more bottles of this on the trip to try at other BBQ joints. BYOB joints are hard to find in Austin. — 6 years ago
2012 tasted 1/1/19 citrus rind, reduced currant, ripe red cherry, and lovely fresh violet notes Initially. The alc didn’t show until day 2. Quite light on the palate for the alc on day 1 though while packing a ton of complexity. I wished that I had drank it all on night 1 but I had to be fresh in the AM! I like Tegan’s wines very much and honestly? I did not expect this to be a favorite vi years and it wasn’t. I’m saving the faves for a few more years. — 7 years ago
Super rich and smooth. Still great fruit for a wine this old. Dark purple color and lingers on the palate. — 8 years ago
Bright solid ripe black...berry, raspberry, cherry, framed with peach yogurt and black pepper on the finish. Full bodied with very well integrated alcohol. A personal favorite vineyard of mine with 100+ year old@ vines Style sits between Ridge and St Francis if you are familiar with their bottlings. — 9 years ago
PnP. Dark purple color. Unique nose of grape now-and-laters, blackberries, and anise. Rhubarb and root fruit/vegetables? on the palate. Alcohol lingers and it’s spicy/biting on the palate. Unlike any wine I’ve had. Not bad but not my style. Maybe needs more age? — 10 months ago
The 2010 Esprit de Beaucastel from Tablas Creek was a tough act to follow, but this elegant Rhône blend from Sonoma just did that.
The nose was quite similar with aroma of blue fruits and earthy elements with hint of violet, it was the palate that set it apart: soft, complex and deep, with great texture and beautiful acidity that adds the tension. Elegant and seamless.
Kale Anderson was the long time wine maker at Pahlmeyer, and Kale wines are all vineyard-specific. Worth seeking out. — 7 years ago
So this is what Malbec tastes like. Get your shit together, Argentina, et al. She’s super inky, ultra extracted, velvety weight on the tongue. Blackest blackberry, mulberry, boysenberry. A desk drawer of fresh pencil shavings and a little hardwood dust. Boozy perfumes of dark petaled flowers. It glides along on wheels of the lightest hickory smoke and bacon fat. Pepper, pepper, pepper, and perhaps, a faint but determined whiff of curry. Holy shit, this stuff is otherworldly. Get yours before word really gets out. — 7 years ago
Pale lemon color with aromas of ripe fruits, citrus, vanilla and nutty scents. On the palate complex flavors of apple, peach, pineapple and lemon citrus, well balanced with acidity on a nice mouthfeel. Long finish ending with oak, vanilla, mineral and citrus notes, will continue to age. A beautiful Chardonnay. — a year ago
Drank on 8/23/2019; Vintage 2013 — 7 years ago
This is good stuff. Reminds me of some Turley bottlings, in Tegan’s style. Vibrant red fruit on the nose, a hint of mint, dried figs, tinged earth and brown sugar. The palate has some crunchy red raspberry fruit, dried florals, vibrant acidity. Needs some air, but when it opens up, she sings. This is the kind of zin I like - well balanced, not overtly jammy, but with the personality and fruit to lure you in for more. — 8 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Lemon gold color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits with citrus, sweet floral and complex spice, no MLF. On the palate flavors of ripe melon, pineapple, apricot and honeysuckle notes with lemon zest and biscuit notes, delicate, complex and well balanced, big and full Chardonnay. Long finish, savory, ending with mineral tones and fresh finish. Will age well. Outstanding! While I usually do not decant whites, this one will benefit to breathe a bit! — 9 months ago
