The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is youthfully understated, requiring coaxing to reveal its depths of dried black cherries, mocha and cloves, all lifted by a hint of fresh mint. This impresses with its blend of sweet spices, opulent ripe wild berry fruits and silken textures, all balanced by brisk acidity and a pleasantly bitter tinge of dark chocolate toward the close. This finishes classically dry with dramatic length and potency, leaving a coating of fine-grained tannins that saturates, promising many years of positive evolution. Popped and poured; enjoyed over several hours. Clearly showing the solar nature of the vintage, the 2015 Fèlsina CCR pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of stewed cherries and strawberries, well-oiled leather ball glove, red flowers, curaçao, dried green herbs, and sandalwood. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes of the nose. The finish is long, tart and satisfying with ferrous minerals. A lovely pairing with Conchiglie Ripiene. While this is fully mature, it still has a healthy life ahead. Drinking very well now and should through 2030 with ease. — 6 months ago

Surprisingly dark on the nose with leather, turned earth, undergrowth, some roast… sun dried tomatoes. After a while a fresh orange zest & flowery note emerges to add contrast. Barely any cherry or red fruit. Dumb phase? Queer bottle? And yet - intriguing!
On the palate nicely structured and with fresh acidity. Love the quality of tannins - fine, juicy yet firm. Savoury, just a touch rustic, loads of umami flavour here.
Def. a food wine, and a very nice one, too!

This wine is colored dark purple, almost inky. The nose is wonderful, with an earthiness leading the way for plum, cherry and tar. The palate is loaded with dark fruit, earth and black pepper. The tannins are fairly smooth, but they work well against a Bolognese sauce. There is a nice acidity and a wonderful herbal finish. — 4 months ago

Quite deep ruby , with a wide garnet rim, quite young looking. Dried herbs , smoked meat , red cherry, violets , liquorice and antique furniture polish notes . On the palate quite round and rich, sweet red fruits , with that herbal tinge , those liquorice and charcuterie notes also evident . This in fact still shows well a day later , still quite full and rich , with red plum and black cherry notes . Quite good acidity , with quite gritty tannins, balanced alcohol . Decent length . This is very good now though no rush , mature but will continue to show well for a while longer , from now over the next 5 years . This wine has a dark purple color and a complex nose. Aromas of black cherry, violets, anise, clove, leather and earth are plentiful in the bouquet. The palate offers a medium mouthfeel with great acidity and firm tannins. The fruit flavors are carried along by the more savory aspects of the profile. It is a wine which would love a pairing with a steak or a pork chop, or with a meaty stew. — 5 months ago
