Private Reserve Georges de Latour Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Absolute treat to have a 1977 next to a 2009. 77 was smooth with little fruit but paired beautifully with the filet. '09 was still fruit forward and jammed some tannins -- could sit another 5-10 years. — 8 years ago

Les Chaignots Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2022

Back at our new favorite seafood restaurant and so very difficult to find the right red wine pairing (we were in the mood for some red….don’t judge us!)
Our new Sommelier BFF (Michael) steered us to this region and he was spot on! Light, fresh, red fruits…delicious 😋

Saint-Victor Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé 2022

Yet another overachieving ‘22 Provence rosé; very satisfying after recent Provence vintages produced a cloying totty fruity pop. White flowers with a pinch of pepper greets you on the first swill. There’s some nice pineapple juice in the middle palate that takes you unexpectedly to a dry finish. This is good stuff and certainly worth a try. — 3 years ago

Les Terrasses de l'Empire Condrieu Viognier 2018

Pop and pour. Notes from 4 hrs open. On the nose: freshly cut honeysuckle, then loads of flowers, mint, soft honey and wet stone. On the palate: excellent acidity, wet stone, ginger, medicinal herbs, fantastic density. Better than my last btl...definitely one of my condrieu standards. Yum! — 5 years ago

Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1996

Still youthful garnet color. Almost opaque. Fruit forward nose with notes of black cherry, rhubarb, brambly brush, moist earth and a little menthol. Fruit matches the acidity and delivers amazing balance. Another 96 that seems to have come around. A few years the acidity was too much to handle, but now it’s got a nice balance. — 8 years ago

Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2022

Medium dark rubi robe, nose of dark cherries, spices and a hit of cloves and flowers. Oh so good in the mouth, medium bodied, complex, flowery and with some vanilla from the barriques. Fantastic. Roumier has gotten better over the years. — 8 months ago

Les Saint Georges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2019

2019 vintage. Not decanted. Tasted after being open one hour. Light body. Decent frontal concentration that glided and dimmed appropriately to the finish. Nice sustenance throughout without being overbearing in any particular facet. Last tasted 9.24.23 and it was a trip and a bit unbalanced (8.9). This was worlds better. 3.15.24. — 2 years ago

La Petite Chapelle Hermitage Syrah 2013

2013 vintage. The second wine of La Chapelle, that is now named " Maison Bleue", but an excellent wine in its own right. At 9 years old this is absolutely gorgeous with an expressive nose of blackberries, wild flowers, pepper and leather, enhanced by a subtle smokiness. In the mouth it combines power with elegance, with pure fruit, subtle spices, silky tannins and great length. Terrific value if the mythical La Chappelle doesn't fit your budget. It was sleek but certainly not hard as nails. The burg hound review is spot on. It's in its drinking window now so maybe it was different a few years ago. Good value too!
