Nice, young, tight knit. Light on Franc herbaceousness, but firm and fine in its structure. Best in 1-5 years from now. — 6 months ago
2019 | Chardonnay
Ravines Wine Cellars
Geneva, NY, USA
Always an interesting wine due to Morten's use of appasimento style for 1/5 of the grape harvest.
Honeycomb, dried lemon peel, ripe pineapple core; pineapple puree, lemon zest, butter, oxidized yellow apple peel; long finish, round, complete.

Riesling, not Gewurtztraminer. Very good Riesling from the finger lakes - Eli’s find. @Eli Barton — 7 months ago
We had the pleasure of opening the 2021 Hermann J. Wiemer.
On the nose there was nice strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, herbaceous notes and green bell pepper.
On the palate there was good strawberry, raspberry, red plum, green bell pepper, a bit of oak and crushed gravel.
This is a medium bodied wine with light velvety mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that leaves with a medium to medium + red fruit gravel dust finish. Well it looks as though spring can't make up her mind. This weekend looks to be a bit on the cooler side so lets get out and enjoy ourselves. Please stay safe and healthy. Best bottle of New York ever… go buy it now…. Thanks Liz & Ben Eberle Cherries and sweet Fruit — 4 years ago
Powerful for an American Riesling, showing lots of minerals and even a bit of petrol overlaying floral, lemon, and lime aromas. As dry as advertised. Not as heavy bodied as its overseas or Washington State counterparts, likely because of the cooler climate. — 3 months ago
2012 bottle. Perfectly smooth at this point, especially after another 1 hour decant — 4 months ago
Complex, dry Riesling, apricot, apple, tangerine and minerality. — 5 months ago
Clear deep gold. Abundant, genie-like nose of baked apple and birch. Medium palate confirms the nose -- the apple is green -- with a hint of ripe pear and mineral notes with solid, medium-plus acidity tempered by the barrel treatment. The Classique draws from the top vineyards around lower Seneca Lake, and the result is among the best the Finger Lakes has to offer. Excellent all-around white for rich seafood, pork, or poultry dishes, and especially the Thanksgiving table. Drink now 2021 through 2026. — 2 years ago
At the bottle shop with Becky, chris, patty and me. Nice and smooth! — 3 years ago

Label has some style. And catches the eye. Bit of an aged version of CA Zin, but that can work. Deeper rusty, maroon color than some Paso Robles Zin I’ve had. Smells a bit more herbal and dank than fruity and jammy. Flavors are big, bodacious and brawny. Hints of the blending other reds in the mix. Chewy. Hint of that grape jelly in a campfire flavor of some Zins in the finish. This should pair well with a steak and grilled veggies. It’s a nice, well produced classic. Kinda like the biker on the bottle. — 3 months ago
