It is the start of the weekend and I have opened the 2015 Chappellet Mountain Cuvee Proprietors Blend. The wine is 37% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose I am getting black cherry, blackberry, black currant, bakers chocolate, molasses, asparagus, caramel, vanilla, clove and leather.
Upon first sip on the palate the is jammy dark fruit of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, a little heavy on the toasted oak and gravel.
This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + rich mouth coating tannins that lead to a long lingering oaky dark fruit finish. With the cooler weather continuing into the weekend along with rain it looks like an indoor movie for me, but we will have to check out some other of my reds. Have a great weekend and be safe. JL Southern Rhone tasting 11/15/16. Blanc. Nose that's more subtle and reserved with hints of melon and minerals. Palate very balanced and complex with medium finish that's supple with sense of rocks and minerals. Needs age me thinks. $34. — 9 years ago
36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% merlot, 26% petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet franc. A sweet (actually don't laugh like ketchup) aroma then flavors of dark berries, earthy tones and dry tannins, nicely balanced — 9 years ago
Nice balanced bottle; not overly acidic. Petroleum on the front. — 5 years ago

Very nice, 66 Pichon Lalande overshadowed it though - suppose that's what happens with a 50 yr old and a 34 yr old — 9 years ago

Blend of 54% Cab Sauv, 34% Merlot & 12% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby with aromas of pronounced dark fruits, sweet spice, floral and herb notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, blueberry and plum with notes of cacao, cedar and subtle herb spice. Well balanced with acidity, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy mineral character. Nice! — 4 years ago
Slight scent of sour apple on the nose. Very light on the pallet with hints of apple and citrus. Not a huge fan of white wine but would drink again. Great pairing with chicken. — 5 years ago
Light straw in color with a golden tint.
Strong nose of grapefruits, boysenberry, citrus, honey, white flowers, minerals and white pepper.
Medium-bodied with medium acidity, crisp and refreshing.
Dry to off dry on the palate with citrus, grapefruits, lemons, honey and spices.
Long finish with lemons.
This is a great Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley. Well balanced with a nice long finish.
Has high alcohol, but it's not noticeable, which I liked.
Fruity, rich and not bitter, with nice complexity, and I loved the finish. This is very tasty. Probably the best Sauvignon Blanc I've had in a while.
14.3% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Strong spicy nose of raspberries, sweet cherries, light oak, spices, licorice, earth, eucalyptus, herbs and peppercorn.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, herbs, licorice, dark chocolates, peppercorn and earth.
Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very tasty Merlot based Bordeaux blend from Washington State. An Interesting wine that feels more like a Right Bank Bordeaux. Tangy and spicy.
Right out of the bottle it definitely feels like a new world wine, but once it opens up it changes.
This 3 year old is so very young, and would be better in 3 to 5 years. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
I really enjoyed the nose, once it opened up. The palate needs some more bottle time, but it has good potential.
Needs time to open up properly, so be patient. I used the Zencore to expedite the process. Took about 8 minutes.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (55% new).
