Your friend comes back from Hawaii and they bring you a lava rock which they’re not supposed to because it’s bad, bad, very bad luck but you always had a thing for risking the superstitious odds and not sending along chain emails, so you’re into this bad luck rock. They also bring you a lei with less flowers than you’ve seen on leis at the dollar store but you put it on and crack your best pseudo smile for them because dammit they love you and they did what they could, short of bringing you on their romantic vacation. Honestly if they did bring you, you know you’d get into one of your “moods” and not only would you be a hard third wheel, you’d also be named the pity party hostess of the year. Cherries, ash, dried flowers, tannic structure like a good skipping stone. — 8 years ago
Delicious and the perfect escape the smoke dinner with our dearest. — 8 years ago
I keep coming back to Hungary for some of my most solid wines of 2017. The overall texture, balance of ripeness and acid in this style seem to always hit right in my wheel house. This bottle's taken my favorite elements of a good Chenin Blanc and added touches of toasted sesame, white pepper, green fennel fronds to the palette. Continues to be my go-to pairing for roast chicken and after work aperitif. — 8 years ago

The sub $20 pinot world is a shambolic minefield filled with jack and the giant like flavors... 30ft tall cherry stems and tsunamis of sour apple, skin and rind. This is *not* that. Perhaps credit the Mendocino bones, but it has lovely notes of chalk and new leather. It's hard to fully escape the sweet-n-sour cherry at this price point and availability, but it doesn't lead with that. A moody, not bright, feel. So much better than what you usually get to choose from at this price. — 8 years ago
Yum. Bought this bottle on 'Evacu-cation' during our escape from Calistoga wildfires to sunny Ojai. One of a few library wines scored from the Ojai Vineyard tasting room. Great example of California Chardonnay at its best. Shows restraint and reserve with invigorating acidity. Tasting great at this age. — 8 years ago
Very good on it's own or take a bottle of this Leonard Oakes Escape Rose and Leonard Oakes Frontrnac and dump into a pitcher. Tastes just like sangria. Very good! — 8 years ago
Very beautiful wine. Great balance and acidity for a reasonable price. Dark fruit flavor with a bit of a floral and eucalyptus component. Big surprise!! Exceptional value from a Wine producing region that is growing in quality. — 9 years ago

Authentic aroma, acidities and tannins. As good as some of the most traditional producers in Barolo and Barbaresco. Can't escape the feeling that the structure is somewhat simple. — 7 years ago
