Modus Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2020

I have bought every bottle of this I've seen in the last 9 years or so. Purely nostalgic reasons. It's not the best Super Tuscan. It's not expensive. But, it just reminds me of every meal I had during my time in Tuscany. Somehow the price jumped from $20 to $30. I blame Trump. Every year has been pretty consistent, but 2013 was world-class. This 2020 is great, and if it weren't hailing out right now, I'd go grab some steaks from the market. Cheers, friends!

2020 was a warm vintage in Tuscany.
Enjoy it even though of the price hike.

Cherry, plum and pomegranate fruit, with iron, graphite and herbal notes. Good QPR.

Casanova di Neri

Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

It was very acidity and a bit bland at first. Maybe it needed more time, but decanted for 3ish hours and it tasted a lot like mushrooms, balsamic, black currant and a touch of underbrush with forest floor- with a touch of oak and spice. It was tannic but there was a lack of something in the mid palate and fruit. As I drank the last glass after 5 hours of decanting, it started to open up beautifully. All the aforementioned characteristics but with a strong mid palate filled with dark fruit. Delicious. Not as good as other vintages but this is worth drinking but give it some time to decante. Maybe 4+ hours. — 11 days ago

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2021

Vanilla, oak and spices on the nose that beautifully integrates with tart cherry, blackberry and soft tannins on the palette. Very young wine that is of exceptional quality that would certainly benefit from aging to have tertiary flavors and aromas develop. — 9 days ago

In a perfect spot! Great Brunello, tastes still young so I think quite some time left to drink these — a day ago

Tenuta San Guido

Guidalberto Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2021

Solid Italian red…with hints of Napa. More than the deliciousness of the wine is the deep love I have for my life partner. Although we are wrapping up our 25th anniversary trip to France and Spain, we are embarking on the next 25+ still in deep love with one another. Can’t wait to see where our journey takes us next. Thank you God for delivering me my perfect mate. — 15 days ago

Excellent nose. Even better on the palate. Herbs and a little pepper with cherry and dark fruit. Great finish. — 21 hours ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

9.1

scored a split on closeout and it was tasty! probably just starting its gentle decline w/some musty oxidative aromas, but it also had engaging smoke & spice, worn leather, sour cherry, red currant, hint of vanilla & cocoa, sweet soil and other earth driven elements. med bodied, well worn tannins and some acidity presented a fairly balanced palate. usually priced out of Brunello so this was a treat! — 3 days ago

Light and fragile wine from Toscana. Wonderful image of sea-inspired wine, which has also sun-ripe fruitiness inside. — a day ago

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2006

A lovely Brunello. Classic in style, nose and character. Lovely. Drinking well but could go for another decade ( or two!). — 14 days ago
