Aged for 30 months, 100% new French oak, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruit, smoke and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum & blueberry with notes of vanilla, licorice and smoke. Fine silky tannins, long finish, great mouthfeel ending with fruit, herbs and spice. Popped and poured; enjoyed over a 90 minute period. No formal notes. Slightly deeper in color than the Benanti enjoyed before and there’s a bit more depth in general when comparing the two. Ripe strawberries and cherries. Savory. Good structure. Drinking well now but this has the stuffing to mature gracefully over the next decade. — 5 months ago
