Finally getting around to posting wines from my annual Napa trip from two weeks ago. Always goes by quick! Lots of fun new stops this year.
Really enjoyed my visiting with Will at Mending Wall where he poured Rivers-Marie as well as his personal label William & Mary.
I’m scoring this the same as the Occidental it was next to, but for different reasons. This, for my tastes, is a hold for the next few years. Herbal and floral, with a refreshingly low ABV yet still powerful. Spice box, herbs de Provence, cedar, and kirsch like. Lots in reserve here. — 6 years ago

Herbal aromas (typically Margaret River) with Geranium Capsicum and a touch of menthol. Some green notes - medium weight. Savoury wins out over Cassis and black fruits. Not in the upper echelon of Margaret River Cabernet. Just a silver medal. We went to the Cellar Door some years ago and the story goes that the Reserve Cab was served at the wedding of Prince Frederick of Denmark to Sydney Real Estate agent Mary Donaldson originally from Tasmania now Crown Princess Mary and one day will become the Queen of Denmark. Fred is a keen sailor who was representing Denmark at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and they met at Sydney hotspot The Slip Inn where Fred was flashing his Black AMEX so the story goes and was captivated by Mary and the rest is history. — 6 years ago
Supple, jammy, silky mouthfeel, grapefruit, reminds me of the smokey charcoal of a Vacqueyras and the fruit of a luscious Pinot.
A recommended Rhône from the local shop owner on 23rd street.
A bouquet that brings the memory of clementines.
A shimmering pool of maroon silk. — 7 years ago
Stan Mary Taylor 2022 very drinkable — 8 months ago
Good for price, classic — 10 months ago
A very comp and contrast with the KS. A heavier more robust and complex profile that is a different presentation of Brunello, would need different pairing. Great with the meat sauce pasta. Such a treat to try this side by side with the Summa. Very different. Quite a bit more sweet and ripe fruit here framed by good acidity and herbal crunch. Some blood orange and tangy red fruits mixed with blackberries and a great finish. Will get better, but hard to wait! — 6 years ago
Stunner. Unfolded as the night went on. Just enjoyable with an ever evolving nose with classic Napa aromas. Want more — 6 years ago
Fine example of a Yarra Valley Blend. — 7 years ago
35% Gamay, 35% Malbec, 30% Pinot Noir
Rich red and black fruit aromas (cherry blackcurrant per the label) and undertones of flintiness. A rich body with tart cherry acidity, ripe blackberries, a lot of spices and flinty minerals to give it a dark side. Yum!!! — 10 months ago
Rich, Honey, chestnut. Acidic.complexity. Herb. Bitterness. 2016 @4200(700/G), T Enoteca, 230204 — 3 years ago
Wonderful. Light to med body. Great with pasta and meatballs! — 4 years ago

Not quite pop and pour, but close! Will poured this as we walked around the facility and it rapidly evolved, showing baking spices (lots of cinnamon), sweet mixed berry pie, with a touch of graphite...profile had very fine grained tannins, lush and balanced, finishing more to the red fruit dominated side of the spectrum. Nice. — 6 years ago
Beautiful nose, great balance, medium-full bodied, rich, cellar worthy — 6 years ago
Special wine to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday - from his grandfather’s cellar.
on point and could easily be mistaken for Haut Brion — 6 years ago
