Lychees and tinned fruits. Distinctive. Great dessert. — 9 years ago
Fascinsting and fruity and just a little funky, 2011, grapefruit and THE most distinctive dill I've ever encountered in a wine — 9 years ago
Chicken oyster shells and rocks. Intriguing and distinctive. — 10 years ago
Early, but brilliant. New world all the way, but distinctive underlying structure that remains unique to the site. Very excited for the future. — 10 years ago
Amazing, and so distinctive. The fruit is so fresh, and yet it has depth - like a wine twice the age. — 12 years ago
Pulled the cork on another ‘18, and it’s just great! Blend of 96% Sauv Blanc & 4% Sauv Gris adding an interesting dynamic to the wine & distinctive aromas. Medium lemon color, citrus, tropical & floral aromas. On the palate peach, melon, herb & earthy tones, well balanced with acidity, smooth yet robust on a long finish ending rich with wet stone character. Good value! A Fav!! — 5 years ago
Color of clear bubbly ruby. Nose is pleasing, with quality Pinot Noir notes, like wet mushroom, cocoa, fresh berries, and a bit of savory spice. Taste is quite sweet and juicy acidity with spicy chocolate vanilla, very distinctive cocoa note, while fruits and spice take the 2nd seat. Aftertaste is some more cranberry and zest. Overall quite dense considering she is a Pinot yet refreshing. Had a 2nd bottle a few months later, and the comments stand. — 7 years ago
This is so so good. Flavor is enveloping. Black cherry and graphite nose. A distinctive minerality in the finish. Omg. Fennel, crushed rock, blackberry, rose, high acid without being angular, so fucking good. Long, plush, delicious — 7 years ago
Hot, but still smooth. This is a really great and distinctive red. — 9 years ago
Way too young now but destined for greatness. Chris Howell knows how to showcase what the mountain gives him. This wine, with its hints of well integrated Brett, is not only distinctive for Napa, but stands out against others from the mountain AVAs. Cellar for a long time! — 10 years ago
Kudos to the boys for all calling it CdP, GV even nailed it a Pegau blind. Bramble, tar and hint of garrigue. Rich, distinctive nose. Amazingly still coming together after 3 hr decant, the pieces all there: beef blood, earth, peppery spice, pipe tobacco. Big tannins on the precipice of melting down and perfectly melding it all together. Just a few years before this passes superb on its way to profound. — 10 years ago
2000 vintage. Deep ruby, edging to deep garnet around the rim, very bright. Plush on the nose. The black cassis notes from the Cab and the violets from the Cab Franc are very noticeable. The wine is developing with huge sweet spice, vanilla, smoke and leather. There's a bovril, meaty note here that's very attractive. On the palate, medium acidity, high tannin - grippy, but not coarse; well integrated. Alcohol is 13% and unobtrusive. Good concentration. Fruit is riper on palate than in the mouth, and a distinctive dark chocolate and cinnamon note. The finish is long and attractive. Hard to imagine this wine drinking any better from here. — 10 years ago
Pastry, lemon and almonds with wicked chalky minerality. Great acidity and distinctive. So good. — 11 years ago
Ah Lopez de Heredia... Love looking at people's faces as they taste these wines. So distinctive, so complex, so elegant. — 12 years ago
Sick nose. So distinctive. Apricot, iodine, saline, superb minerality. Forest scents. Palate is just breathtaking. Elegant, fresh and huge acids. Dense and deep but so ultra refined. Complex and super juicy and that acid really goes into overdrive on the finish. Terrific mineral complexity just dances on the palate. Gorgeous interplay of fruit and mineral. — 5 years ago
Chocolate, minty, spicy, balsamic — 6 years ago
Headed in the right direction as a label. Style is very Burgundian, but there wasn't yet a distinctive terroir. Vines are still young and this wine had more distance to run. Will be interesting to follow over time. — 8 years ago
Wow. Distinctive flavor. — 8 years ago
Riojas have a distinctive aftertaste reminiscent of iodine which is characteristic of lines from Spain. This wine fights against that notoriety. It's evocative of red fruit but not overwhelming. It's balanced. And stays that way throughout the entire length of the taste. Paired with pork and Rosemary, brussels sprouts and kale salad. — 9 years ago
Could not be confused for a Burg but finds a distinctive chord of rich Carneros fruit in a refined, enjoyable package. Flinty and light woody nose in a biggish package with fresh acidity. Previous juice from this estate undrinkable but the nice guy @wholefoods Napa convinced me to to take another shot and he was right. — 10 years ago

Nose is just piercingly clear cherry and cherry flower. A hint of mountain field.
Palate is so clean. Almost like a mountain stream infused with cherries. Some spice. Almost a lavender extract. Wow. Very distinctive. As it opens some lovely dustiness on the palate.
Finish is so perfect. Cherries. Lingering cherry licorice. — 4 years ago
