Dark fruit on the pallet - pretty smooth. Enjoyed with steak and potato. — a year ago
2015 vintage. A very fine Castillon by Denis Durantou ( of Eglise-Clinet fame). Better the second day, so you might want to decant. Totally outperforming stablemate Les Cruzelles ( Lalande de Pomerol), tasted alongside. Good red fruit concentration, balancing the typical Castillon chalkiness. 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.Abv. 14,5% — 4 months ago

Clos Saint Georges L'Eglise Pomerol 2020, Bordeaux, France
It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim, and medium plus intensity.
On the nose red cherries, plums, red currants, light oak, chocolates and spices.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, light oak, chocolates, spices, coffee, licorice, light tobacco leaf, earth and herbs.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 5 year old Merlot blend from Pomerol feels very young and not showing its age at all. Fruit forward with nice complexity and good balance. Elegant with good structure.
Starting to drink nicely now, and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime, when the tannins show up and bring more structure. Spicy and entertaining.
Good by itself or with food.
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

2016 vintage. Jérémy Chasseuil is working miracles here. Needs a bit of air, but after half an hour in the decanter it really started to shine. Intense perfume of raspberries, blueberries, violets, rosemary and a hint of truffles lurking in the background. Concentrated, with layers of red and black fruit and subtle spices. Velvety tannins and hardly noticeable oak. Very long too. Still very much under the radar, a great chance to buy a high end Pomerol for less than a 100 euro. — 5 months ago
This Castillion Chateau was acquired by the late Denis Durantou of L'Eglise Clinet roughly 15 years ago. Just as promised it delivers excellent value. Damp earth, currants, plums, black truffle and some green notes. Very solid. Would buy again. 2019 is the last vintage Monsieur Darantou harvested. — a year ago

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, vanilla, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, tobacco and black pepper.

This is a delicious Merlot from Pomerol. Soft and elegant. Rich and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and complex with a nice mouthfeel.
This 5 years old Merlot is fresh and young tasting. Drinks like a soft New World Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of old world.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 25 years. Has good potential to become a 95 point wine.
I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is always enjoyable. A great sipping wine.
