The Queen of Ambonnay. A true unicorn, so so rare and it’s in such a killer spot, not at all at the end of its life (I’m sure there can be some bottle variation), but it’s just fantastic tonight, rich, immensely powerful and perfumed with a captivating core of red berry fruit, red roses and a chalky mineral edge providing the most seamless balance to its layers and championing the Ambonnay terroir. A very special bottle that showed perfectly 🙌🏻 — 2 years ago
Had the 2009 vintage in July 2019 in Kairon with family for birthday celebration. Excellent. — 6 years ago

Very pale salmon color. Orange and minerality on the nose with toast. A bit of Loire-herbaceousness. — 8 years ago
Bottle variance! Last one was bit maderized but this one was showing much better. Soft mature ripe fruit of peaches, compote and bread yeast toast. Enjoyed it. — 9 years ago
Fresh and delicate, with notes of white fruits, pear and peach, fresh apricot and white flowers with roses. Dried fruit aromas reveal it is starting to mature. Lush, generous and creamy. Beautiful exuberance driven by white fruits and lemon zest notes on the finish — 10 months ago
So very pretty in the glass, a typical vibrant Saignée color that we all love. Pure fruit loveliness on the nose with wild strawberries and cherries. Cranberries and roses with fresh herbs. A touch of pepper, a dash of spice, and a dollop of vanilla.
A pure Meunier from Vrigny, aged for three years. Racy and lively, it’s a nicely structured pour. At this age it does lack a little emotion. That special feeling the right wine, or person, can produce. Not quite enough personality…yet. But as we know, time can change that.

Very light on the nose, but wonderful lemon followed by orange taste. Nice and dry with no sourness. — 4 years ago

Delicious grower champagne. Great recommendation from @Sarah O'Kelley — 8 years ago
This rose is an interesting change from the ones we've been enjoying lately. The fruits are slightly candied & soured. Not quite watermelon Jolly Rancher but it's close. Black cherries, black raspberries, watermelon, cherries, poached strawberries, cranberries, raspberries, tangelos & pomegranate reduction. The fruits leave a film on your palate as if you'd had a piece of hard candy. The bubbles aren't micro but they feel very delicate on the palate. The minerals are light, soft and beautiful as is the chalkiness. The finish is round, full, expressive and long. Outstanding value versus some of the more expensive roses we had lately...Krug, Billecart and Ruinart. It's not as good or as well made but it's certainly pleasurable. — 9 years ago
Here’s a beautiful Coteaux Champenois rouge by Grower Producer Champagne J. Lassalle, located in the village of Chigny Les Roses in the Montagne de Reims region!
When founder Jules Lassalle passed away in the 1980s, his wife Olga and daughter Chantal took over the family business, which continues to be run today by Chantal joined now by her daughter, Angéline.
As for this wine, it’s the 2018 Chigny Les Roses Coteaux Champenois Rouge made with 100% Pinot Noir grown on vines over 50 years old! It fermented and aged (9 mos) in stainless steel, preserving a fresh and vibrant profile.
It’s pale ruby in color. On the nose are juicy fruit notes of red and black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, redcurrant, boysenberry, and kirsch, next to hibiscus, pink rose, wet stones, black licorice, fennel, and anise seed.
On the palate is a dry, bright, and lively expression, fueled by mouth-watering acidity, with a medium body, medium alcohol (12% ABV), and fine, well-integrated tannins. It’s lovely!
Cheers to Champagne’s many delicious dimensions! — 10 months ago

A little different from the Rosés I drink but pleasant. Soft on the palate with micro oxygenation. Blood orange, we’ll cook rhubarb, poached strawberries, orange & tangerine citrus blend, some white citrus, extremely soft powdery chalkiness, limestone marl, baguette crust, crush rocks, light red & pink florals ( roses), nice acid, well balanced finished fruit & earth. 80% Pinot 20% Chardonnay @ Compline Tasting Bar — 3 years ago
Let you in on a little secret (now that it’s too late). This Cuvee’ is the best growers champagne you’ll find for about $35 when it goes on sale once a year at Whole Foods. Unfortunately I heard 2020 was the last year they’d be allocated their private label.
Pours a glint of rose fold. Light aromatics - white flowers and white cherries and lemon. Concentrated mouth - structure, rich, complete with strawberry, raspberry, bing cherry. — 5 years ago
On the nose, almost gummy style fruits. Strawberries, cherries, hint of very ripe cooked rhubarb, tangerine, some white citrus, sea spray, nice soft chalkiness & red & pink roses.
The palate reveals; some sweet & sour cherries & strawberry notes, very ripe rhubarb, tangerine, blood orange, passion fruit, lean watermelon, saline, nice grainy grey volcanic minerals that leave a long deep presence on your palate that could be mistaken for spice on the long set, sea shells, beautiful chalkiness, red florals and pink roses, nice round acidity and a long rich, polished finished.

Nice! Inviting floral fruit nose. Pear and beeswax with a juicy finish. Great sipping but stands up to a bacon breakfast. — 9 months ago
