Sour cherry and chambord, with a twiggy backbone. Very Austrian, very blaufrankishy! — 4 years ago
Pretty purple with the edges starting to lighten up to ruby red. More restrained style - plenty of depth without being really jammy. Blue fruit gives way to chambord, grilled meat and cocoa with black tea on the long finish. Amazingly balanced for 15.7% alcohol. Turley continues to make some of the best Zinfandel around. — 5 years ago
No need to ad chambord to my champagne anymore!! — 5 years ago
Glistening violet color. Displays highly perfumed red/blue fruit liqueur, exotic spice and floral oil qualities on the expressive nose. Alluring sweet and broad on the palate, offering sweet Chambord, blueberry and spicecake flavors that are sharpened by a building mineral flourish. Shows sharp definition and spicy cut on a long, penetrating finish that leaves sweet floral pastille and red berry preserve notes behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)

Absolutely gorgeous showing with some great years ahead of it. Roasted cherry, Chambord, strawberry confit, crushed plum, truffles, garrigue, stones, porcini, sandalwood, lavender. Sublimely elegant with aroma/flavor for days with well-postured tannins holding it all up. — 3 years ago
Had to try it as well 😏

Opaque ruby. A powerfully scented bouquet displays mineral-accented boysenberry and Chambord scents complemented by suggestions of pungent flowers, Indian spices and incense. Intense red/blue fruit preserve, cherry cola and fruitcake flavors show superb definition and silky texture. Comes off graceful despite its depth and finishes on a repeating floral note, displaying outstanding persistence and bright, mineral lift. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, October 2021)

So much juicy juicy goodness. Incredibly chuggable given its soft fruit and refreshingly brisk tannin. A more shouldered and deeply structured Crozes in some ways. Still not convinced that one should ever age a D&R syrah, so much life and deliciousness when young. Caught this a stage where some tertiary development was occurring, but a slightly progressed hue makes me think it would be difficult to keep alive for years on. Cherry Herring, Chambord, any berry/cherry liquor you can think of, Creme de Violette, Lavender oil, candied black olives, bacon fat, star anise, cinnamon, talcum, some slightly sweaty/meaty notes from a touch of VA, adds to meaty savory quality well. Performing well over hours of drinking. — 4 years ago
Still deep purple in the glass 11 years in. Throwing a lot of sediment. Grilled meat, blackberry, chambord, a hint of menthol and baking spices on the palate. Chewy and savory finish with plenty of fruit to balance out the tannins. I may be underrating this. — 5 years ago
Memories of having this at Mangevins in Tain L’Hermitage back in 2018. Bold then, this has shed a couple pounds, still an infant in many ways, the progression of tannin and integration of its plush fruits show the progression. Amazingly graceful and vivid, its power is caressing suggesting a Burgundian touch. Ripe and liquor of black raspberry and some currant, Chambord-esque, peach pit, talcum, distilled violet, an array of smokey tones; smoke beef brisket, smoldering charcoal, toasted pink and black peppercorns, star anise, hot pebbles, iron, truffle. Smart use of whole cluster here, it’s lift and complexity bring volumes to the wine. Superb! — 6 years ago
Chambord, grilled meat and pomegranate on the nose. The mountain fruit has evolved and is much more subdued offering notes of milk chocolate, kirsch and white pepper. Finish is quite long. Rattlesnake is a special vineyard and the 08 is showing its stuff beautifully. — 4 years ago
Ripe, heady, full throttled juice, reminiscent of Crozes-Hermitage with it’s juiciness. There’s some sinew to it. Coulis, Chambord, soaked cherries, cherry wood, bbq meat, creosote, tapenade, Provençal herbs, a slight kiss of balsamic, stones, licorice whip. Love the overtness of this 2018 has — 5 years ago
We had the 2015 Vintage on 11/18-19/20. Wet earth and red fruit on the bouquet. Tastes of raspberry, strawberry and even Chambord on the palate. The tannins were smoothed out. The wine is medium bodied and very good. — 5 years ago
Why not my favorite vintage so far, I feel this carries the warmth well. Rich and ripe without pushing the limits too much. The extra SY and MO components lend themselves well and this has some flash and darkness that bring a wild side to it all. Ive found some ‘17s to have significant brett but I think this balances well. Tannins are ripe but could use some more time to integrate a touch and soften their chew. Ripe black cherry compote, Chambord, roasted plums, animal, sweet spice and clovey layers of brett. 60 GR 20 SY 18 MO 2 CIN — 6 years ago

2019 vintage. Huge Chambord and kirschy aromas and flavors. Medium body. More acidity than tannins currently but that could flip in 5-7 years. Drinking closer to Russian River Valley Pinot Noir instead of CDP currently. On the “artsy” CDP side as it were right here right now. Definitely missing the late 80’s-early 90’s cigar/tobacco/smoke counter-argument from this particular producer, place and offering. 4.17.23. — 3 years ago
