Quite rich and ripely fruited , cassis , blackberry , sweet cherry . Good freshness and ripe , very fine tannins . Long and detailed , so elegant on the palate . Balanced Red currant , cassis tinged finish , mineral and saline hints . Come back in 5-10 years will show well over the next 10-15 years . This shows pretty similar to last year , a really elegant and refined edition of this wine. — 3 months ago
Les Hauts de Larrivet Haut-Brion 2021
Pessac-Léognan AOC, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷
Overview
Second wine of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion, this blend of 78% Sauvignon Blanc and 22% Sémillon showcases the elegance and freshness typical of white Bordeaux. It balances fruit intensity with minerality and spice, offering a refined but approachable profile.
Aromas & Flavors
Bright notes of lemon peel, orange zest, ripe melon, and honeyed lemon. Layers of lemon curd, pineapple, and white peach skins are interlaced with spice, vanilla, and mint, plus a touch of green apple for lift.
Mouthfeel
Medium-to-full-bodied with rich texture and lively acidity. The palate carries citrus and orchard fruits with a spicy edge, leading to a long, refreshing finish. Balanced and energetic, with power but no heaviness.
Winemaking Notes
Carefully selected fruit is vinified to highlight Sauvignon Blanc’s freshness and Sémillon’s structure. Aging in oak adds depth and subtle spice while preserving clarity of fruit.
Food Pairing
Ideal with grilled scallops, roasted chicken with herbs, lobster risotto, or creamy goat cheese. Its structure also allows it to handle lightly spiced Asian seafood dishes.
Verdict
A well-structured and aromatic Bordeaux Blanc that punches above its “second wine” status. Already drinking beautifully but with the potential to age gracefully for several years. Elegant, versatile, and a smart buy from Pessac-Léognan. — 3 days ago
+2 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment) A beautiful deep ruby red color. On the nose: Expressive nose captivates with dark red fruit, espresso, chocolate, floral, menthol, sweet tobacco. Taste: rich, round, intense wine with dark cherry/blackberry, minerals, cedar, tobacco, and a peppery-pencil lead-dried herb long dry finish. YUM! A brilliant wine just entering its drinking window with time to go. — a month ago
