Lots of potential still! — 6 years ago
Grand Cru.
Chateau Lascombes has been producing fine wine on the same location for about 300 years or so. In the 1855 Classification it was ranked as one of the 15 “Second Growths” of Bordeaux, which meant it was one of the 20 best vineyards in France and therefore - at least according to the French - the world. It’s had its ups and downs over the years but has been a top performer in most rankings for the last 30 years or so. At one point in the 1970’s I believe it was owned by one of the worlds best known wine critics, Alexis Lichine (with financial backing from David Rockefeller). I think it was bought from them in the late 1990’s or so.
Known for its smooth flavors and never overly tannic, I would bet it tasted great!
Parker gave this one a “94” when he tasted it and said to drink it between 2014 and 2020. In Honor of Nick! — 7 years ago
So, if I were lucky enough to celebrate David Bowie’s birthday with him, what bottle of wine should we open together. Had to be Red Burgundy, doing some super high end Grand Cru would be me trying too hard to impress him. This 2010 Jarollieres Pommard 1er from Pousse D’Or would do the trick. Still mourning him & happy to honor him on what would have been his 71st. — 7 years ago
Chablisienne nose of crushed oyster shells and ocean air. The palate has electric fruit and piercing minerality. Brings to mind a Grand Cru Alsatian Riesling yet with fine bubbles. Lovely wine! — 8 years ago

@Martin G Rivard i don't know if a case is enough! Been thinking about this all day. Absolutely gorgeous. Bright and elegant, raspberry-slight citrus note. Firm floral finish. Love this. @David L — 8 years ago
@Kirk Alexander @David L @Joe Lucca @Mike Rowe @Ron R I brought this gorgeous beast to the party. Kirk and I both placed it slightly behind the insignia since that had such bottle age to it and was drinking perfectly. However, we could both truly appreciate the amount of perfection this bottle contained. Time will indeed round out the wine BUT OMG was it still immensely, insanely great right now! I don't regret popping one of these early at all in anyway shape or form. Awesomeness in a glass! Bravo Mike!! @Mike Smith — 9 years ago
Gorgeous. This is chocolate covered cherries with fine grained tannins, beautiful structure and balance. This was a fun wine to drink on my night off. Mama has the kids and I’m halfway through this with nothing but PTI and Sportcenter in front of me. Life is grand!!! @David T thanks for the great review and suggestion! Saving the other bottle for 2029. You’re welcome to join me. Hope you like MN Vikings. — 6 years ago
My firs Clos Vougeot Grand cru and I wasn’t disappointed! If you got the 2012 vintage it’s ready to drink now — 6 years ago
Only back home for three days since our grand excursion, oh Burgundy how I miss you and your beautiful landscapes with tiny villages.
(I don't miss how tall my damn grass grew in the lawn during our absence!)
Flinty nose with beautiful white flowers.
Flint, minerals, lime-honey on the palate, acidity is noticable but not distracting. Finish is like forever. We will attempt to restrain ourselves from drinking this whole bottle this evening, as based on recent Saint Aubin tastings, this will continue to evolve with air and patience. I feel this bottle is still young, many years ahead for enjoyment.
Thanks @David T for turning me towards Lamy... I'll be back for more!
24hr Update: So creamy, beautiful Chardonnay fruit, yellow apple, faint flinty notes today, acidy is still noticable, and enjoyable. I'm not sure I like it more or less than the initial approach, it's a different, also great, wine today. — 7 years ago
Well balanced Bordeaux. Tasted the 2015 vintage in Oct 2017. Definitely would buy it again. — 8 years ago
What a beautiful person inside and out! I'm blessed beyond measure to be able to call him "Dad". Words can't adequately express how much I Love him. We opened a few bottles last night that I will hold near and dear to my heart forever. We are celebrating his completion of 6 rounds of chemo therapy in his battle against Prostate cancer. This is his 3rd time in the ring against this opponent and it appears that he's won with a unanimous decision by knockout at this time!!!!!! Love you dad!!!!! So proud of your strength through this process. My Father was born in 1940. A difficult year to say the least:
Germans entered Bordeaux in June of 1940. As dictated by Hitler himself, it was the sworn duty of each and every commander to search and seize whatever could be used for the advancement of the German cause. Bedlam broke out. Chateaux' were ransacked, wine cellars were looted if not used for target practice. The Chateauxs were forced to continue producing wines. It's poetic justice that Mother Nature provided the Germans with the worst growing season from 1940 to 1944!!!! The Germans left Bordeaux in 1944 to the cheers of the residents "Au Revoir Les Allemands"!!!! The 1940 bottle that we enjoyed this evening survived World War II. It Survived the ransacking, pillaging & plunder of countless German soldiers. It's outer capsule showed evident signs of its struggle but it's inner beauty was unblemished and glorious. I've had many, many vintages of Latour from 1928 and on but none have ever tasted as perfect as the one we enjoyed tonight. This 1940 was perfect. It was a fighter, it never gave up, it never relinquished in the face of adversity. That's my Father, that my role model. He's a beautiful person inside & out. I think 1940 is the best vintage that I have ever had the privilege to enjoy. Special thanks to my good friends Michael Troise whom provided me with much of the insights in regards to the incredibly difficult vintage and David Page whom gifted this bottle to me for our celebration this evening. I will never forget your generosity. It was a glorious evening to say the least!!! Wine has a way of bringing people together and encapsulating an evening and event. I couldn't think of a better way to rejoice in his victory than to open a Father & Son birth year wine. — 8 years ago
Micro-bubbles galore, Yum! This might be close second for a Friday evening standard for @David T but tonight it is flowing into glasses on the complete opposite side of the Country. A wonderful Blanc de Blanc Champagne.
Nose has freshly scrubbed lemon, grapefruit peel, sliced Granny Smith apple, wet chalk, cold brioche and Gardenia blossom in a breeze.
Palate is fresh orange peel, grapefruit peel (like really wow), tart green apple, fresh walnut, crunchy brioche with a little hint of sweetened butter and a splash of acidic ocean water.
Finish is intense, yet elegant and lasting for many minutes. We are quite looking forward the the evolution of this bottle across the evening, as it warms from 46°F and gains air time.
Thank you @David T @Sofia Jalilie for allowing us into your week closing tradition. The next bottle should have us closer together. — 6 years ago
Killer Wine Night. Lineup of 17 wines. Tasted blind. Theme was Old World Killer “B” (the letter “B” has to be the first letter in one of the proper nouns in the wine e.g., region, varietal, type, winery name, etc.)
Wine 2. Wow. What an experience. Classic Bordeaux of mushroom, and wet earth, with awesome blackberry fruit. Totally different experience on the retaste where it had been open for about 4 hrs. Courtesy of @David Moffat and Tom Moffat. — 7 years ago
Rhone tasting - @David Simmonds - amazing yeasty, balanced and fruity pick. Thought of a Champagne — 7 years ago
@David L going John Wall superstar style with his 4 Mag contribution of this dense, vivid beauty. After we consumed about 2 gallons of wine each we hit up the patio fire pit for some s’mores and he ordered up 2 bottles of ‘10 Realm Bard. He’s a beast. — 8 years ago

The only thing better than this Bressler today was the company of my friends, family, gorgeous wife, daughter & grand daughter!!! Wine truly encapsulates an event and I could not think of a better way to highlight this Fathers day than to uncork a beautiful vintage that I've been saving for a special occasion. I killed 4 bottles of Bressler today. It was my 1st time tasting his 2013. Absolutely freaking amazing. Big, bold, Rich and opulent. Bob Bressler is a master at his craft. I've never lead any of you wrong before in regards to wines that I am passionate about. No Bullshit: buy this. Freaking amazing! I was snapping necks all day!! People would immediately turn and say "Holy shit, what is this!?!?!". I've said this a thousand times but I'll say it again: Bressler flys under the radar. Snatch up as much as you can right from the winery at a great price. Bob is a badass winery owner and loves it when you call!! Call on Tuesday since I'll be calling on Monday for another case and want to be sure that he has capacity!!!! Believe me., you won't regret it!!
This was the wine of the day and everything else we enjoyed was such a distant 2nd that I won't even post them! Bob deserves today's title of being the "Bad ass in a glass " wine of the night! Bravo my friend @Bob Bressler !!!!! — 8 years ago
Palate never quite matched up with the nose despite a good 30min decant. An absolute fruit and flower bomb on the nose. — 8 years ago
