Bandol: pink or white.
It’s a slight culture shock as a moron gringo in the South of France when wines by the glass are identified not by producer or even by grape but simply by place. Bandol didn’t mean much to me as a place, I drove through it en route to Toulon from Marseille but that was about it. Probably it was the fact that it was a vague homonym for bandit drew me to it — which is admittedly kind of lame, but the wine seemed to deliver. Any more than the progeny of any other Mediterranean town would have? Je ne sais pas. But this wine right here is a phenomenal rosé.

Lime, apple, and honeysuckle. Light and zesty but a touch less dry. — 7 months ago
Paired perfectly with NY Strip, garlic mashed potato, steamed broccoli lovingly/brilliantly ( if I do say so myself) cooked at home. Came by this wine at Substrate’s 2nd gathering of the wine club. Brilliant Cab Franc. Pepper both white and green. Dark cherry. Balanced tannin. This is one to seek out. from — a year ago

Lovely - a little less fat and rounded, which was a nice change — at Brat — 4 years ago
Pretty happy with this wine. A light red with some pepper, spice and good forward fruit. Pretty smooth. Nice legs on the glass but weak. I toured CDP years ago while stationed in Germany- I have very fond memories and enjoy this wine.
Purchased in 2014 vintage, picked up for $30. — 5 years ago

Sofia loved Penguins. We played w/ them in Dubai and she also skied indoor while I had a spot of Champagne and watched from a very big window. Only in Dubai. They have to build things of that nature…cus w/o them…just a bunch of sand. — 2 years ago
The 2017 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is neutral on the nose, sultry but not sullen, maintaining delineation and focus, with crushed stone and light smoky aromas developing over time; it does become a little reduced. The palate is well balanced with a salty, basalt-tinged entry. There is plenty of energy and superb acidity, leading to a vibrant, spicy, persistent finish. This fans out gloriously. Outstanding. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2021)

Wonderful balance and complex soft fruits and buttery soft acid and nutty. This what I hope for from Burgundy. — 11 years ago
