Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2019 pours a very pretty garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of raspberries, cranberries, pomegranate, rose pastilles, alpine herbs, cedar chest, and crushed rock. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose thought the palate seems to be a little more reserved. The finish is medium. My last bottle from ‘16. Almost at peak perfection but what do I know- other than one of my favorite Nebbiolos. Always a bit shy but the bottle age & air brings all those rose, hibiscus & cranberry notes to a fuller pitch. Such great aromatics too. — 6 months ago

Wow. Nose is so pungent. Spice and sour cherry. Earthy and so deep but also some gorgeous florals. Spectacular. Elegant and juicy but also young and unformed. Needs air. But it’s all there. Huge acid and length. Very sapid. As this airs the tart cherry fruit stands out as does the concentration but all in all after 4 hours a very closed wine that needs maybe 8-10 years. Today it is softer and suppler and has major mid season sapid cherry fruit. Wonderful — 4 months ago

The 2019 Carema is a gorgeous, deep wine. It is also incredibly young to the point that the aromatics are quite closed. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, mint, crushed rocks, rose petal and cinnamon struggle to emerge. There's plenty of intensity, especially for Carema, but readers will have to be patient.
