Canned Oregon

Quilceda Creek

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Double decanted several hours prior to service (recommended); no formal notes. While probably not my pick for best expression from Columbia Valley, the wines of Quilceda Creek certainly have a massive following for a reason. It has been at least seven years since I last had the 2005 vintage which was probably my favorite from the aughts. Well, I’m happy to report that it is very much alive and well. Big and would still be attractive stuff for many. Balanced. Perhaps a little hot on the finish but that’s pretty common with their wines; at least to my palate. Drink now and through 2030. — 4 days ago

Armada Vineyard Syrah 2013

Ten years on, starting to settle down. Still some bacon notes that work with burgers, but no new magic. — 21 days ago

Elouan

Oregon Pinot Noir 2021

Really good Oregon Pinot Noir. Dark cherry, oak, cranberry and tins if vanilla and some mineral on the finish. Low tannins but enough acid to pair great with food. Great QPR for under $15 at Binny’s. — 18 hours ago

Penner-Ash

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

2021 vintage. Well-made. Slightly plushy but verry pricey for just Willamette Valley juice. Would spend the extra ca$hi$h for single vineyard offerings from this producer this vintage. 5.1.24. — a month ago

Mt. Jefferson Cuvée Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

One of these days I’ll give this wine the proper cellaring it needs. Bigger style, good guts, imagine it would age beautifully. Nonetheless, it was delicious as always. — 9 days ago
