The color is striking. More orange than rose. The aroma is like salted orange butter. On the palate it’s round and balanced. The usual notes of strawberry and honeydew are there but there’s also prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe, and maybe grapefruit. Finishes with some nice minerality. I was holding onto this in my fridge like it was a “big deal” but I shouldn’t have. It’s very drinkable. — 4 years ago
The color is a rustic tan or light orange with clear edges. The nose has a almost aprocot quality to it with loads of orange rind and citric acid minus the sharpness and a distinct green grape core. The mouth feel is thicker just as a dry red would be. Tannins and all. On the palate there is notes of grape skin, peach, and a bit of cherry. Long dry finish. Leaves you thirsty for another sip. — 6 years ago
Lots of skin contact white blend. The nose has an interesting mix of white flowers, honey, orange pith and Camembert. The palate is waxy with preserved lemon and tangerine lace. I get something else bitter as well almost like wild arugula. Really fun and delicious. I can’t wait to see how it opens up. — 7 years ago
Great color. Cool varietal. Excessive Brettiness upon opening that aired out over night, but other than that... great notes of burnt orange and honey. The palate was creamy with very balanced tannins. This is the only other orange wine that has reminded me a lot of La Stoppa’s Ageno, which is one of my all time favorites. — 8 years ago

*Wow* Found this for $15 bux. Skin maceration and then (I was told) Charmant method of bubs. A bit too much RS for me but then *wow* tannins hit. SoOo exciting! Great 4 a pairing, wouldn't drink the btl doe — 10 years ago
Impeccable. Complex and heady aromas of red fruit. Alpine strawberries and raspberry converge with a high note of brioche. It's incredibly elegant, with a delicate mousse and vibrantly acidity. There is a slight mineral edge, adding complexity to ripe pomegranate, orange rind and coriander. Fleshy, creamy and decadent finish. ID 412041 Enjoyed with truffle fries. — 11 years ago
rich. A little but it orange flavors, a tiny bit of dark finish. 9.0 — 5 years ago
Coming from an exceptional vintage, the 2005 Viña Tondonia from R. Lopez de Heredia is a compelling blend of Tempranillo (75%), Garnacho (15%), Graciano and Mazuelo (10%), all sourced from their estate vineyards and aged for six years prior to bottling. This sensational wine opens with a bright bouquet of leather, cranberry, orange rind, forest floor and suggestions of black tea. Showing incredible focus and poise, this balanced Rioja is framed around flavors off leather, red cherry, teaberry, Mandarin orange and pipe tobacco that sit alongside brisk minerality, as the wine shows tremendous freshness and length through the long finish. This is an absolute stunning effort from this storied Estate and should continut to drink beautifully for years to come. Drink 2019-2035- 94 — 6 years ago
Pronounced aromas of orange blossom, marmalade, apricot on the nose. Expected the acidity to counterbalance the sweetness better. Felt a little too “heavy” for me. Not bad for $49 for 750ml bottle. — 7 years ago
Dried lemon rinds. Grapefruit, orange, honey and potpourri. The palate is lemon rind and pith. Orange zest. Saline and hints of honey. Reminds me of a fino sherry, but with more moderate acidity. Long finish. — 9 years ago
Light dusky orange in color, betraying extended skin contact. The palate is tart but weighty, with a lot of unfamiliar but very interesting flavors. Tripped across this in a wine bar in Rome in 2008; ran across it in a wine store in Portland, Maine this weekend. Serendipity! A fascinating wine. — 11 years ago
Aroma is uncanny; a perfume of rose petals and coconut cream wafting from the glass. Totally beguiling. Vanilla and marzipan lead the way with fresh and dried red berries, red cherries, dried flowers and orange peel. So polished, but this needs more time for the oak and fruit to integrate. The 2010 Ardanza remains my favorite now for its classical balance. — 4 years ago
Garnet color with hints of orange on the rim showing the age. On the nose, dried but ripe and brambly blackberry, raspberry and almost a savory quality to it with thyme and rosemary spices coming through. On the palate, you get the ripe fruits with an overall lifted spiced wine with a minerality backbone with a long expressive finish. I could taste the wine almost 4 mins later. High complexity and high quality wine that is very expressive and full of fruit and garrigue. Medium acidity, medium body, medium and silky tannins and medium alcohol. Decanted for 3 hours and what a treat on Grenache day!! :) — 5 years ago
The 2016s just came in so I had to rip one open. This might be the best SC ever and that is saying a lot. It’s certainly the best one for early drinking as it was singing with only a splash decant. A return to dark fruits, cedar, orange peel. The life of the party. — 7 years ago
Great orange wine. Tart with hints of funkiness. Tried at Lula. — 8 years ago
Red apple, rosy florals, mid-dry refreshing finish. A whiter shade of orange. — 9 years ago
Well-aged orange wine. Hints of oxidation (like Madeira) on the nose. Mineral core, long tart finish. Good complexity - some odd tertiary flavors that are difficult to identify. — 9 years ago
Half-bottle. The wine was medium amber in colour and offered orange peel, apple, honeycomb, caramel, smoke, spices, sherry and a mouldy note on the nose. On the palate the wine showed orange, peach, apple, cane sugar, caramel, smoke, spices, creamy honey, some coffee, a hint of chocolate, sherry, mild black tea and a mouldy note, paired with medium-plus acidity, a creamy honey mouthfeel and very good length. Judged by this half-bottle the wine has just passed its plateau and started its slow journey on the downward slope. A good, medium-bodied Sauternes with lots of botrytis character. Drink now. 89 — 11 years ago

Limpid orange-pink. Expressive red berry, blood orange and pit fruit aromas are accompanied by building mineral and floral nuances. Taut and energetic in the mouth, offering sappy strawberry, orange zest and lavender flavors braced by a spine of chalky minerality. Finishes silky and impressively long, with repeating mineral and floral notes. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2021)
