Baroque and Baden like but with Mosel soul. Dried apricot, juicy and textured. Almost oily but not quite. Really threads that needle perfectly. — 7 months ago

Never get enough Spatburgunders at home. If this were Burgundy, people would call it “masculine.” — 2 years ago

An amazing vintage here. Nose is a bit funky out of the gates but wow once it gets going it’s all red cherries, sour cherries, and wild herbs. So so good. Really lifted. Palate is mega closed but my goodness rhys is super precise and focused. Like a laser. Unreal freshness and acidity and barely ripe sour cherry and early season cherry fruit. Insane velvety and sour/sweet tannins. Wine as sweet tart. This needs air. It’s got the bones but I will check back in an hour or two. Oh this is getting better but it’s gonna be slow. Angular and dense but so balanced. That Rhini structure abounds. — 6 months ago
In a great spot. Big explosive and feral nose. Almost sinewy. Floral, tart cherries, a wildness but also so expressive: Perfumed. Huge mineral background. But the palate is just god tier. So much sweet tangy fruit backed up by just incredible energy. Gets to every nook and cranny. So juicy. Unreal finish. So elegant in the midpalate. Unreal explosiveness and that tart sweetness is crazy and uniquely German. This is insane. — 8 months ago
Was looking for a Pinot with a bit more structure and opened up this - man, this has evolved beautifully over the last 2y! Showing such finesse & elegance right now, the tannins so fine & smooth and the fruit shining. This is really a beauty to open up now.
Red berries with undergrowth, some tree bark, a hint of exotic spice & orange zest, maybe a whiff of dark cherry. So fresh, so juicy, so enticing!!
On the palate this sings! Impeccably balanced, with great depth & elegance.
Wow. This is quite profound and a stunner!
What a beauty! — 2 years ago
Always so good. Opulent and incisive. Deep nose. Lots of amplitude. Huge limestone. Herbal. So complex. German Chardonnay is so awesome. What a palate. Huge core of apple and pear fruit and stacked with minerals and a malo sweetness. So long and nimble. Gorgeous wine. Almost 9.5. — 3 years ago
Dear Friends warning this wine needs 48 hours to open up! I kept it for that time under Argon!
Still think the 2015 Muschelkalk mights have peaked. I opened 3 bottles. The first was oxidized and the other 2 were good to world class. The cork on all three was quite soft.
The wine has this ethereal character but the twisty black forest herbs are somewhat gone. It is still great to drink - but to shine one needs stupido patience.
Calk, very faint cherry. (Collecting E&M since 2009. And have been at the winery every other year.).
If you have it you must really experiment and play around but also - drink it up! Not a wine for normal or sane people.

Super juicy. Pinot Grigio. Clean and crisp not our Kombucha type - skin contact! Tannic and quite tart but man is this great stuff. Small pears the ones which used to grow on old forgotten trees. Touch Strawberries. 🍉 Watermelon. It is incredible hard to spit this wine. A class on its own. — a year ago
Bright garnet color. Aromas of dark cherry, mushroom, tomato skin with a touch of barnyard funk. Pallet is full of ripe red fruit (cherry, cranberry , raspberry & plum) with notes of mushrooms, baking spices and minerals. A bit of smoke on the finish. Silky tannins. Medium bodied and bright. — 3 years ago
