Rich with a lot of natural acidity. Pear and Citrus notes. — 5 years ago
A long time Turkey day favorite, that seemed to lose status as a Thankgiving staple has returned with triumph to our table. Velvet and rich, dark garnet. Flavors of blackberries and lingonberry. Loved the sturdy burst of flavor in my mouth. — 5 years ago
Awesome rose from and awesome producer. So happy we got to enjoy this wine outside in SC; super refreshing on a hot, sunny day. — 6 years ago
Toasty and alcohol dominant upfront, but a little decant or time in the glass and this peppery, oaky, berry petite Syrah is ended up nicely. Actually had enough glycerol flavor and structure to have some layering of flavors after 30 minutes, and would likely be even better in a couple more years. Dark fruit moves to the forefront with balanced spice and wood with some time. Not a huge wine, but really good value. — 7 years ago
Dense and aromatic, with ripe blackberry and cassis but no sweetness or syrup. Loads upon a loads of white pepper. Fine tannins. This has aged remarkably well. I have this sense, perhaps mistaken, that Wells basically did a stylistic about face between 2006 and 2007 but perhaps that overstated the case. — 7 years ago
Lovely and deep. Has a fairly rich and mellow taste which is very pleasant compared to the light and uninspiring nose. The finish is slightly deep but has zing to it. I am a bourbon drinker and have 40+ bottles in my collection and can say that I completely forgot this was finished in bourbon barrels. I guess if you're thinking bourbon while you're drinking, you get a sense of it in the exhale at the end of the finish, but that's about it. But there must be some influence in keeping the taste a bit rich. Whatever the bourbon is doing, I like it. — 4 years ago
Reopening week continues. One of my favorite CA PN cuvées, threading the needle beautifully between my savory wagyu, and my wife’s herbal Gonestraw chicken. Super young and the lush fruit needs time to subside into the other spice & brush components of the wine. Delicious nevertheless. — 5 years ago
After a day of delicious up north Michigan beer, this was the best I could find at the bar and grill we hit for dinner. And this is pretty good! Cherries, cola, dark chocolate (?), some black licorice, and some white pepper. Really popped w some spicier food. I’d buy this again. — 6 years ago
By now I can spot Pax in a lineup. Inky but feather light - nearly always sub 13% ABV. Concentrated, stripped of fruit and outside influence. Whole cluster and tart green. Youthful. New world with a nod to old world.
Testa fits. Lean, restrained, with a ruby purple. BlackBerry and crushed rock. — 6 years ago
This really hit the spot with our grilled shrimp and vegetables. Honeysuckle, toasted honey, apples, maybe some lees? Refreshing, complex for a white, and a great balance of fruit, inorganics, and acid. Top notch if you’re looking for an Italian style white! — 7 years ago
Really loved the balance and minerality - dry and sweet. Great value — 5 years ago
Nectarine, white peach, a bit herbal. Decent acidity. — 5 years ago
Full of flavor. Long finish. I would definitely get again — 6 years ago
My favorite of their reds. Lots of plum flavors. Would be awesome with food. — 6 years ago
Wine for slugging...actually they could’ve made it a little lighter on its feet now that I say that, but for $14....I actually think maybe they could’ve cut out a bunch of parts and labor in the process and it would fly even faster — 7 years ago

Says sweet but it’s surprisingly well balanced. Dry, with a hint of tannin, it’s light/medium bodied with a VERY floral nose, with hints of pine sap and raspberry enfolding deep. The palate is long, with ripe and tart red fruits up front, a prominent acidity, and a dry finish, with long lingering notes that are slight vegetal, with hints of black tea ending in a gentle minerality. Much better than I had expected! — 3 years ago
