Magnum was better on day two, showing acute complexities unrealized initially.

2013 vintage. Tulips, ripe cherries in tree, raspberry essence. Holly and spearmint apparently had a winter tryst under a spray of delicate cranberry blossom. Pickled strawberry and dry pinecone emerge from a smoky cave, there is a citrus whiff, from a nighttime grove ringed by oregano. Light mouthfeel with electric potential. Subtleties abound. Lovely Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, hitting its peak with dried cherry nose, raspberry, roast beef, grilled pork, rose petal, roobios, graphite, dried blueberries. Rich mouthfeel showing cola nut, espresso, fruit and barrel tannic underpinnings, aforementioned roobios, lavender and roses, raisins, figs, dates, clove, peppercorn and cinnamon perfectly portioned in an intense wash of raspberry, smoky, bitter savory, nettle and an anise afterthought. Incredible wine from a serious house that always delivers their intense manifestations with grace and finesse. Rich in every sense.

Ruby-red translucence with little to no rim variation. Red roses, prime rib with cedar smoke, pure, black cherry juice, dried rosemary, sliced red plum, frozen raspberries and a touch of blood orange make this an aromatic cousin of Nebbiolo, in a way. Medium, silly mouthfeel that genuinely delivers a sumptuous cranberry in warm raspberry juice stirred coldly into warm black and tart cherry to acheive a balance of temperature fruitwise. There is white pepper, a dash of graphite, dry, earthen dustiness, black olive and lime leaf. The whole burgeons into an endless concerto of complex herbs and metal-shop shavings awash in shining red fruits and flowers.
