Light rubi robe, like an old Barolo. Intoxicating and sweet aromas of plums, spices, tobacco and secondary and tertiary aromas. Wine is dry and light on its feet, complex, decadent. Lacks a bit of density and length in the finish. I imagine this was stunning at its prime. This bottle was high shoulder so perhaps a better conserved bottle will show more. Fantastic 48 years old that is fully mature but holds pretty well after 1 hour we opened. Reminder of how great California Cab can be. — 3 years ago
Blend of 48% Cab Sauv, 15% Petite Verdot, 12% Zinfandel, 8% Petite Sirah, 8% Syrah, 6% Tempranillo & 3% Merlot, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, notes of herb spice and earthy tones. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with tobacco, dried herbs, oak and cacao notes. Long finish, fine tannins, nice acidity, ending with fruit, tobacco, cedar and cacao notes. — 4 years ago
Olivier Collin’s Champagnes have to be in the conversation of some of the absolute very best in the region. Les Roises, 48 months sur lattes, and coming from the oldest vines in the lineup, is an absolutely stunning expression of Chardonnay. It’s like drinking some of the best White Burgundy with bubbles. With dazzling complexity, riveting energy and an intensely aromatic bouquet, it wafts from the glass with rich caramelized stone fruits, red roses, smoke and stony minerals. The palate is expansive, dense and vibrant with fantastic midpalate depth and a stunningly long finish. I need more Ulysse Collin in my life 🔥 — 4 years ago
Deep Ruby with youthful aromas of blue and black fruits with sweet spice and slight mineral character. The wine is a blend of 86% Cab Sauv, 7% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec & 2% Cab Franc from their estate-owned Napa Valley vineyards, aged 18 months in French (62%) & American oak (38%) (48% new). On the palate complex flavors, blackberry, plums and ripe cherry with sweet spice, oak and eucalyptus notes. Well balanced with good acidity and tannins still developing. Full-bodied, long finish ending with cacao and wood spice. Delightful! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
Medium lemon gold in appearance with tiny bubbles. Still an absolutely baby, took a couple hours just to open up. Thick nose layered with brioche, lemon zest, acidic Granny Smith apples and some gravel. High mouthwatering acidity (8/10) and full bodied. Quite austere in its youth wanting to come out of its shell. Electrifying on the tongue with layers of citrus zest, white minerality, green apples, a touch of salinity and some yeast. Long and never ending finish. Drink from 2020 till 2045.
This bottling is the 164ème Édition of the Grande Cuvée by Krug which spent at least 8 years aging in the cellars (bottled Summer 2016) and is comprised of a blend of 127 different wines (38% reserve) covering 11 different vintages from 1990 to 2008. The blend is made up of 48% Pinot Noir (some from Montagne de Reims, Verzenay and Ay), 35% Chardonnay (some from Villers-Marmery and Trépail) and 17% Pinot Meunier (some from Sainte-Gemme). — 8 years ago

This is the 2019 Chateau Montrose La Dame de Montrose. Saint-Estèphe Gironde, France Bordeaux. The blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, perfume rose petals, green bell pepper, spice, vanilla and earth.
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, herbaceous, green bell pepper, licorice, black pepper and a real dark earth edge.
This wine is beautifully full bodied with medium + to high but not overbearing acidity and medium + sinewy muscular firm tannins that nicely move into a long black fruit rich earthy finish. This can definitely be a top line Bordeaux. I hope everyone is well. This weekend looks to be a good one. Drink something special with someone special. Stay safe and healthy. Assume that’s the vineyard in the inked drawing on the label. Fancy stuff at $48 per bottle…
Lovely deep red to purple color. Smells like musk, woods, campfire on your clothes. Maybe a cranberry or elderberry tone under it all. Interesting smell to it for sure. Flavors are also interesting. Old time tonics and herbal extractions. More elderberry stuff. Absinthe. Or is that Jegermister? The fruit is there too, but it’s under the savory and strange stuff. This is a wine to age. But it’s good now too if you are into the strange and earthy side of Syrah. A true terroir driven drinking experience. I can see the coast valleys of Mendo in the flavors. — 4 years ago
Pre-Labor Day festivities with friends.
Stinky barnyard, new leather, dried cherry, wicked finish, still years to go, more notes later...
48 Hour Update:
Nose has ripe cherry syrup, moist earth, dry tree bark, ripe black cherry, ripe blackberry, light star anise and roasted meats.
Palate has ripe black cherry, cherry jam, dusty blackberry, light cedar notes, smoked and charred meats, dry earth and a very sappy finish that runs very long. Tannins are in a beautiful spot right now, they do not get in the way of the beautifully complex flavors, but just a gentle complement. Future bottles can be 2021-23. — 7 years ago
Today I wanted to try a Paso Robles wine and I have heard a bit about the Justin wines. I thought I would stop by my local store in Chicago and pick-up the 2015 Justin Justification, a Right Bank blend of 52% Cabernet Franc and 48% Merlot from Paso Robles.
Upon opening I immediately am getting dark fruit, black currant, black cherry, raspberry, tar, licorice, violet, like smoke and crushed gravel.
On the palate there is juicy black fruit, black cherry, black raspberry, black currant, green bell pepper, spice, cedar, graphite, toasty oak and a bit of dark soil.
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth supple mouth feel. There is medium + acidity and medium smooth tannin that leads right to a medium to long finish. An enjoyable wine that would go good with some hardy food. Have a great rest of your week and be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
We had the 2019 Block 48 on 3/4-5/23. This is a fruit forward, medium bodied wine. Light garnet in color. Black cherry and plum on the bouquet. Black cherry, strawberry and baking spice on the palate. A velvety mouth feel. A long finish. We bought this at the tasting room in Carmel. — 3 years ago
A very pretty color of light ruby with light intensity, and a wide reddish/brick rim.
Strong nose of bing cherries, cooked plums, light oak, spices, tobacco, chocolates and light raisins.
Light to medium in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco and black pepper.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very nice Pinot Noir from Williamette Valley. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Tangy and interesting.
Good right out of the bottle and easy drinking. A good sipping wine. Good by itself or with food.
This 2-year-old, is already showing nice complexity, which is always nice to see.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.
Unfiltered and unfined.
12.9% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Can’t get enough of Ulysse Collin. The 2014 48 months sur lattes is deep, intense and ultra precise with vivid energy and Burgundian flair. There’s a leesy richness, while at the same time showing such purity and elegance. Swirls in a Burgundy glass unleash its core of caramelized stone fruit, exotic spices, white flowers and ripping citrus inflicted acids that lead to a long, tension filled and smoky mineral infused finish. Like if Meursault could sparkle ✨ — 4 years ago
48% each Cab and Merlot.... balanced, long silky finish, perfect acidity and dark fruits... would seek out — 8 years ago
Tonight's wine is the 2010 Château Poujeaux Moulis-en Médoc. 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose is beautiful aromas of blackberry, bing cherry, plum, strawberry, black currant, ginger, vanilla, violets, musk, mushroom and earth.
On the palate is lush dark fruit, black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, herbs, spice, graphite, licorice and earth.
This is a full bodied wine with a smooth mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + round tannins that are mouth coating and drying with a long clean fresh finish. I really like this wine, it was a real surprise for me. Maybe being a 2010 I should have expected more, but what a great surprise. Have a great weekend and stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago

2020 vintage. A single 20 hectares vineyard within the Léoville-Poyferré estate. The name was used for the second wine Léoville-Poyferré, but it became a Saint-Julien in its own right in 2009. The 20 hectares vineyard is planted with an unusually high percentage of Petit Verdot. This 2020 is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 23% Petit Verdot. — 3 years ago
